The emblems on all the sedans and coupes are interchangeable, they are infact the exact same size. The emblems on the ML, R, and GL are not, you can't get to them from the under side for some dumb reason. Not sure on the GLK, G, and SLR though.
And to answer the previous posters question of why? Because some people don't like the star sticking up, so they swap it for the flush emblem. All a matter of choice.

i want the flat emblem when i looked under the hood of a e coupe and compared it to mine the way the mount is different. the coupe seemed to be rivited or something where as on the sedan they have bolt and spring or something.

I find myself staring at it sometimes. I have been thinking if I want to get rid of it or not. I will give it a couple more weeks and if I dont get used to it I think I will replace it with flush emblem.

By the way gaazmon, the GLK is made in Germany, not Alabama. I'm with you on the explanation though.

Yeah the previous poster hit it on the head. The GLK is essentially a C class wagon for the States. There isn't a whole heck of a lot of difference between a GLK and a C Estate (mainly just cosmetic). Guess they looked at current sales figures and determined that the U.S. market wouldn't buy a wagon, but they will buy an suv.
