Spoiler Opinion

I am sorry to make a new thread on this, but I think my question may have been buried in the thread announcing my ordering of the E550 (Obsidian Black/Natural Beige).

What do you guys think of the spoiler package? I specced it with both the roof & rear spoiler kit, hoping it would make it look sportier (especially since it's black). It looks good online, but I haven't seen it live. I don't want it to be too "funky". I am hoping that they are just enough to add some subtle style, but not too much.

I think today or possibly Monday is the last day for me to make any spec changes. Any strong opinions out there on the look of the spoilers?

I saw it in person and it is okay, I am not a fan of the roof spoiler but the rear spoiler is a must. Don't waste your money at the dealer, get it from formymercedes.com for a 1/3rd of the cost and install yourself in 30 seconds. Thats where I got mine and 100% happy with it.

Thanks Diesel. The roof spoiler that is shown on formymercedes.com does not appear to be as flush and trim as the one shown on the official Mercedes site. I would post them both here for comparison, but the Mercedes site won't let me copy the photo for some reason The one on formymercedes is a little too high profile for me, if that makes any sense.

You might want to email them at formymercedes to ask for sure and see if they have access to one just like the factory one. I know current my rear lip spoiler is identical and 1/3rd of the price. I almost fell over laughing when I asked the dealer much the lip spoiler on the 2010's cost knowing I can get it for $289 online!

I saw the spoiler package on a palladium silver E350. Sharp. Certainly not too funky. I generally dislike a spoiler that has no real aerodynamic function. But this one is nicely done. It's subtle and doesn't scream "look at me!" The roof spoiler is OK. I'd agree with DieselNY that you could take or leave that part. It wasn't bad, though...

Never been a big fan of the roof spoilers on any Benz. The trunk spoilers are very nice IMO.

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I just left the dealer a message canceling the roof spoiler. Hopefully it's not too late, but I guess worst case, I could just take it off.

Good call. The roof spoiler is just alittle too much if you ask me. Doesnt fit a Mercedes, how ever the trunk decklid spoiler is very classy and sporty.

I drove one with both. I hate roof spoilers, and maybe it's the overall squareness of the W212 or something, but the roof spoiler didn't look as "unfitting" on the car as it has some other cars. IMO the trunk lip is a must on the 212. That rear end needs all the help it can get, and if you notice, the 212's trunk sags/angles downward, not as upright as the 211's. The 211's trunk lid is actually molded to kind have a built in "lip" look as well. IMO the lip helps give some presence to the rear of the 212, but in fairness I haven't done a side by side comparo of one without and with one.

My car came with both the roof and trunk spoilers. I liked both until I had the windows tinted. With the panorama roof and equally dark rear window, the roof spoiler broke the visual flow of the black glass going from roof to window. I took it off and like the look much better. It is applied to the back window with fairly weak adhesive, it pulled right up and left no residue. My opinion is it looks good with a regular sunroof and/or no window tint, otherwise do without. If someone wants to buy the one I removed send me a PM, its yours for $175 + shipping.
