Just Ordered New E550

Just placed an order for a 2010 E550 sport to replace my BMW 550I that's coming off lease December 7. Got P2, Driver's Assist, Pano, Parktronic, Drive Dynamic, Night View, Split Folding Seats, and Heated Steering Wheel. Hopefully it will come in on or around when I have to turn in my BMW.

I picked Obsidien Black Metallic with Ashwood and Natural Beige seats. I really liked the way it looked in the Irridium Silver but I have a thing for black metallic cars. My last 4 cars have all been black metallic.

Looking forward to getting the car and exchanging information and opinions on the forum.

Congrats. Sounds gorgeous.
I'm envious.

I'm leaning toward MB as well as I ponder what to replace my aging 530i with.

Just curious. What made you choose E550 to replace the 550i? I also have a 550i sport, but already dreaming about my next car.

I have a three year lease on the 550i and have to replace it at the end of the lease. I really like the car - particularly how well it drives and handles but the 2010 version is pretty much the same car with a somewhat better I-Drive system. The re-design is coming out next year and while I considered extending my lease to get to the F-10 re-design and the twin-turbo V8, I would really be concerned about getting a BMW in the first year (or two) of a complete re-design because of the potential bugs. The e-60 had bunches of software/hardware issues in the first couple of years and I didn't want to go through that.

I discouted Audi because of major issues I had with an A6 4.2. I liked the Jaguar XF but after driving both that and the E550 a few times, I just thougth the E handled better and was an overall better car. I also like electronic toys and the E-class has them in spades. Mercedes also was somewhat more flexible on pricing and terms.

I also notice that MB is more flexible with prices so I end with MB instead of competitors.

Another reason to check MB out then. When I bought my bimmer, all they gave up was free floor mats. I don't think it's changed much since then. They just won't budge on pricing.

Your gonna love this car and also this forum. The Driver Assist pkg. is especiallu brilliant. If you have never used the radar systems of an MB, your gonna be impressed and wonder how you could drive a car without them. Best of Luck and congrats.

Thumbs up Congrats

Congratulations on your choice of a new E550! You will love it. I don't have one, neither have I ever driven one, but I have sat in one, and it is one of the few cars that is extremely calming even when it's off. The whole car just gives off vibes of technology and luxury.

Congrats again!

Thanks to all. I'll be sure to post pictures when the car comes in - hopefully on or around December 7.

Heated Steering Wheel 2010 E550

Can you provide the cost of the special order for the heated steering wheel?

Thanks

Dartman is correct. #443 and the cost was $480.00. Interesting that the E class doesn't have the option to have heated rear seats. The 550i and my old A6 had them as options. The Jaguar XF also didn't offer that.

Just got my MSRP print out - there's also a $250.00 charge for "special order" above and beyond the $480.00.

I ordered custom leather interior (Chestnut Brown), so I thought maybe the $250 charge went with that because there was no other up-charge for the leather. But it could be for the heated wheel, I guess.

Anyone know if the heated steering wheel will be the 3-spoke sports wheel if I have the sports package?
