got the tint today, at a local tint shop with 3M tint.

they charge me $195 cash no tax. (i know is not cheap, but it look good)

i selected the second darkest all around, but it still look kind of dark to me. maybe i am not too used to car that's tint.

my next thing should be the spoiler but still thinking.

I have an E550 on order (Obsidian Black with Natural Beige) and I've been thinking about the trunk lip spoiler. I noticed that in the on line build a car link, there is a $300 option for the spoiler but I can't tell if it is an installed price from the factory or just for the part. I assumed that it was an installed price since it is in the "options" section and not an accessorary but would like confirmation. I asked my sales guy and he's checking. It seems that answers from MBUSA take forever. Anyone know?

Oh I know the deal trust me because I was so annoyed when I saw the $300 on MBUSA and asked a few dealers. That is the non painted price, basically you are looking at $600-$900 to have it painted and installed and the dealer agreed its way cheaper to get it aftermarket like I did.

They are offering a a non-installed, non-painted part as an "option" for $300.00??? What a deal! That is "chutzpah" (actually I had another word in mind but didn't want to post it).

Hi guys.

I think you messing up two different things: factory option and dealer installed accessory. There is no way MB will offer no painted option. I think it probably cost $300 when you build your car with this spoiler, but you have to order this car from factory or find this car in dealer's inventory or a ship with this option installed from factory.
Another case is when dealer takes this spoiler and installs it on your car. It is not the factory option anymore, but he can do it to any new car on his lot and sell it to you. You will never know it didn't come from factory like that until you look at the sticker and see that dealer did it and charged additionally for that option.

That's exactly what I would have thought but the on-line description of the option says:

"Add this rear spoiler for a more athletic look for your E-Class, and watch as it subtly accentuates the trunk lines of your vehicle. Tailor-made of high-quality material for quick installation and a perfect fit. Comes primed, ready for painting."

This, coupled with what DieselNY found out indicates otherwise.

Hmmm...very strange. I can't access MB build option on their website from work, but I'll do it from home tonight to make sure what it says.
If this is true - they suck big time. Too cheap for the company like MB to do like that.

When I was looking at different cars I saw the price sheet of one that had the Rear Deck Spoiler and was listed for $300. I didn't ask if it was installed on the car before or after it arrived stateside, but I assumed it was factory-installed. I've seen other E's on the lot with the rear spoiler also listed for $300...

i have a question in my mind while i was making decision at the dealership.

looking at the E550 coupe and the E350 coupe, i found myself more like the dress-up kit on the E550, but i do not need 38x hp and the V8 engine.

here is the question for everyone, will you rather get the E350 for your need and then add a replica E550 dress-up kit?

or spend extra money to get the E550 and pay extra gas?

ps. i have friend he could able to make me a replica E550 dress-up kit.

I don't know much about coupes, but I know about sedans.
E350 on your picture looks like regular car with no sport package and no P2 package. E550 has Sport package.
For sedans visually you can distinct between P2 and P1 by front led lights. P2 has it, P1 - not. I quess the same applies to coupes, but, again, I'm not the best person to ask about coupe.

Good luck.

P.S.
I just went on MB website - there is no difference between both of them, but engine. Your E350 picture does not have Sport package on it
.

Both the E350 and E550 come in a sport package, the only difference visually is between the P01 and P02 package so 550 or 350 can look 100% identical, the difference is the engine. My personal opinion is that there is no need (at least for me) to spend another $8,000 for a 382HP engine, for the type of work/driving that I do, I do not need it.

Would I have liked the MB to make the E350 clser to 300HP? sure it can use a good 30+ more HP but again $8,000 to get 382HP and have the IDENTICAL car looks-wise just does not make sense to me. The next step up for me would be AMG at 500HP+ and even the AMG I would NOT get an E63 because once again, do I now spend $100,000 for a car that looks really damn close to a 268HP $55,000 car? No way. CL/CLS63 AMG well that's another story and the next step up for me.

So to answer your question, get the E350 with the P02 package and your car will identical to the E550 and there is no such thing as a replica E550 dress-up kit just get the sport package with P02.

i got my in package2 also, but look exactly like the first picture with the LED L light on it. i can show some pictures tomorrow.

i am sure only the E550c have the dress up kit like pictures#2, go visit a dealership and compare them side-by-side. and u know what i mean.

i still love the look on the E550, but really no need for 38x hp plus V8 engine, so i got mine in black on black with p2 package, amg 18" rims.

drove for 3 days (mostly local) i love the smooth ride and very much like the CLS550 my father has. i tried the s-mode & c-mode on the bumpy hwy I-10 but can't tell the different.

Your car should look identical to the 550 (the white car) if you got P02 package and the 6 spoke AMG rims. The 1st photo is non sport package, P01 and 17 inch stock rims.
