Any Place to keep change?
Hello
I was curious if anyone has found any area / areas designed in the E Series middle console (or other spots) where we can put spare change without it rattling area? I had an older S Class and it had the area / slots in the middle console for quarters, dimes , nickels etc.
I know there are places to put the change in like the ash tray area etc, but all make noise when driving etc.
Maybe I am just missing it ? Please advise, and thanks in advance for any replies.

i didnt see a place per se .... except when you open the glove box you will see some "ridges"in the lid portion that swings open .... i havent checked it out by putting any coins in those slots/ridges but it did cross my mind that maybe that;s their purpose ... let us know .....
Yes that is the purpose... if it's the same in the W211. But whoever designed the coin holder in that position (at least in the W211) must have been drunk or high or both, because the quarters always rattle against the plastic coin holder & glove compartment door, and every time you open the glove compartment for something, quarters always fall out (especially after a period of spirited driving).
To solve both problems (in the W211), I stuck this thick felt liner on the glove compartment door opposite to the coin holder:

Works like a charm, and the color is much darker than the picture (very close to black) so it looks good too (even though I couldn't find the felt in black)!

I don't know if the coin holder in the W212 suffers from the same problems, but if it does, might be worth a shot?

Yeah the push draw where I used to store my change inthe W211 is gone (though I jammed that thing anyway with too mich change in there) but I have a little empty business card box that I keep in the center console that I throw all my change in on the W212...had to improvise.
BTW on my W211 when the change draw jammed I ended up taking a Poland Spring bottle and cutting it in 1/2 with a razor and fitted it nicely in one of the cup holders and that is where my change went.

how about the ashtray when you open the butterfly armrest? It's a deep rubber pocket and it shouldn't cause any rattles.

Thanks to all for the excellent and helpful replies . The area in the glove box in front of the passenger seat with the ridges that was mentioned here does hold a few coins(quarters mainly due to the size as smaller coins slip out ) . Not ideal by any means but better than nothing. Thanks so much for mentioning it.
PS- I dont see any area inside the middle console (butterfly arms console in between the driver and passenger seats ) where there is an ashtray set up that someone mentioned ? Please recheck and confirm this exists as I dont see anything other than open space in the middle console area? Thanks alot

A pressure closing coin purse takes care of the change, the noise, and a place for it (ashtray, under sun visor or under center armrest). What am I dealing with here, Mensa academics? Tink, guys, tink...

There's a little area to the right of the ashtray directly in front of the cigarette lighter I noticed today which may be a good place, within easy reach, to hold coins. There isn't much room for the coins to rattle around in.
