If one specifically wants leather, then go for it.

E350 with mbtex or leather?

Hi.I am new to the forum. I have a 2009 E350 sedan - seats are MB TEX ( after calling to Mercedes Benz - help-line, I found that, Edmunds review was telling 2009 MB E350 leather upholstery).
The Driver's seat is tearing out on its own - slowly it is increasing.car was driven under 50000 miles. Mercedes Benz asked me go to Dealer and get the estimate.
Why MB Tex is such a bad material - it is tearing out withing 5 years or less???
Just querious, anybody have any suggestions and experience of having MB TEX upholstery - which is coming off?

Have had my E350 with MB-Tex since Nov. 2009. No problems, looks perfect. However it is garaged most of the time and only has 20,000 miles on it.
One thing is that 90% of the time I am alone in it. When I compare the passeger seats, front and rear, to driver's, cannot tell any difference. In cars with leather in the past, about a few years, the driver's seat would appear to be more worn.
Also, had a car where the leather seats began to separate along seams and split and crack after about five years.
I do use Vinylex vinyl treatment on the seats and all plastic surfaces about twice per year.
