My New 2010 MB E350 4MATIC
Hi All.
Got my car couple days ago - P2, 4Matic, AMG Sport package. Like it so far. Made one trip to Atlantic City - perfect car... The rear of the car looks so so...other than this - love it....

Awesome looking car! The black is nice. Is that Obsidian?
I have a Steel Grey on order and your pictures have me second guessing my choice.
As for the back end... I think it looks pretty good, but from certain angles the rear wheels look a little "meek" to me (thus my desire for staggered wheels for summer).
A lip spoiler helps the look and will be probably adding that shortly after getting the car.
Enjoy your car!

Could you tell me why ? I've got 2 options
1 . put rims 18 x 8.5 front and 18 x 9.5 rear and tires the same like 2.
2 . put 18 x 8.5 front and rear and tires 255/40/18 front and 275/35/18 rear.
why everybody keeps saying no staggered for 4Matic ?

Great pictures ........ luv the LED's and the overall stance of the new E !!
The rear would look much better with a rear spoiler which i think everyone is adding on after getting the car and it does make a huge difference in appearance of the back !!!
Good luck and enjoy !!!!

Congrats on the new ride.
fwiw, MB used to always claim that staggered tires means rolling diameters aren't identical and that the transfer case will have added load and stress. Even if you get them closer to identical there will be some extra heat and load on the case.
Anyway, that's what MB said. And I suppose if you put on a staggered setup on a car that didn't come with them, you could possibly get warranty claims issues if something does ever go wrong with the transfer case.

I have been told by my dealer thaat it screws up the ESP and the 4 Matic and can cause damage to the 4 Matic. Its fine on a RWD car but not 4Matic.

I take credit for the misinformation.
The dealer told me they were staggered, Edmunds described them as staggered and even though I just drove the damn thing on Wednesday I never really looked.
I even spoke to the dealer service manager before I purchased regarding a few technical items like the staggered tires. He apparently was not aware either that they are not staggered on 4 matics.
My Bad!
Where is the best place to find these details. Checked the Mercedes website (certainly not obvious) but I guess i didn't take the time, if it is even there.

I understand the notion of having different tire circumferences having an effect on the transmission, but if the front and rear wheel diameters/circumferences are the same wouldn't everything be ok?
In Canada, the C300 and C350 4matic models come with staggered size tires.

With the exception of the current C-Class, all 4matic MB models come on non-staggered tires. This includes the E, S, CL and just about anything else. Why there was an exception made for the 204 C-Class I have no idea. Keep in mind the difference on the 204 C-Class is 1" front to rear while the E-Class is only .5". To me, it is barely noticeable on the E-Class but much more so on the 204 C-Class.

Thanks everybody.
I'll go to my dealer tomorrow to find out about staggered wheels. I think it's the best I can do for now. Anyway...even with current wheels the car looks good. I just wanted to have more aggressive look, but..anyway..it's a leased car....why worry ))
