I just picked up my new E-class coupe 3 days ago. My car is equipped with the multi-contour seat. I noticed that the pump for the multi-contour seat bladders runs once in a while even when I am not doing any adjustment. Does anyone know if that is normal? (it needs to be pretty quiet to hear the pump, i.e. car parked, engine off & key in accessory 1 position)

Yes, I think that's normal.
The bladders are loosing air continuously, so the pump refills it periodically. I had the same in my previous S-Class, and I observed it again in the new E-class

are you certain it is not the suspension - which is also prone to flatulence? I have the sedan with drive dynamic but haven't noticed coming from the seats yet.

Hope you're right - maybe now I really will be able to blame the car!!

Hey Alesius, thanks very much for the quick response to my question. I think you are right, the pump is probably making up the loss air in the bladder. That's also what I thought initially but it just seems to be running too frequently (sometimes every 20-30sec or every minutes or two). If you said other cars are doing the same thing then it's probably just the way that it operates. I'll just ignore it then.

I tested it today. Switched off engine and AC.
First it took almost two min before I heard something. Then when I started moving on the seat back and forth, pressing the bladders, the pump started working.
You can hear it best if you sit on the backseat, and sombody sits on the driver seat.
The airmatic also does noises (usually after you arrive and get out of the car), but those are much louder and clearly different.

It is most certainly coming from the seats as Alesius correctly pointed out. Also, the coupe does not have the airmatic suspension which is available on the 212 so it would not be coming from the suspension.

ya, mine does the same. and it lets off air when you turn the car off. if you put key in acc, then the air will start to inflate again.
