Euro Delivery Frustration

I dropped off our new E-350 in Geneva Oct 21,it finally arrived at the port of Jacksonville on Nov 29,my dealer just called and said it is still at the port and that they cannot do anything until it clears customs,I have already made two payments,I'm ready to choke someone! The European Delivery has been an excellent experience until now ,very frustrating indeed

the dealer should have told you that it usually takes a month or two to get a car back to the states - usually the latter.

furthermore, I don't think that the two payments are a big deal - you got the car at dealer cost(12.25% of $58k est. = $7105 vs est pmt $890*2) plus all the other perks included in the package...

I wouldn't be complaining - suck it up...

the more you focus on it the longer it's going to take

FYI In my book it is ok for customs to examine each item that comes in the country to verify we have no 9/11's

So I would not complain but it would be great (not required) for the dealer/MB to provide a loaner while you wait for your new car delivery.

On the + side I am considering a new E in 2011 and was considering the Eurpoean delivery. Any thing you would like to cover would be great. Thanks in advance. vettdvr

FYI - I just did the factory pick-up option too (last week) and have a write-up under the thread "My First Mercedes... Simply Beautiful"

If you want the free factory tour (in English), make sure you arrive at the customer check-in center before 11:00am.

It is a great experience!!!

BTW, the picture below was taken the day I picked up my car and is in front of the delivery center.

Sorry to hear your frustration.

I have some questions on ED here, if you could add your experience.

Thanks!

I know how you feel, I got my 2010 E550 and My wife's 2010 GLK 350 on Aug 27, 2009 in Stuttgart, as part of the European delivery program. We sent the GLK right away upon delivery that same day at the Sindelfingen drop off site, and drove the E550 to Italy. I returned it on Sept 7, 2009 in Munich. The GLK arrived on Oct 12, 2009, Then I had to wait until Nov 6, 2009 to get my E550. It felt like a year!!!
