Took them with my Iphone.. To me atleast, the W211 looks dated next to the new E.. I'll always love the W211 though, Nothing like the fun I had driving the 211E63.. Starting to really like the look of the LED tails on the new E..

Also, is the color between the cars different ? 212 is Artic white and I believe thats the same color on the W211? but it doesnt look it.

I visited them couple days ago and they had white RWD with pano roof...
gorgeous car...could not take my eyes off....

I agree...W211 looks old when it parked next to W212...

The 212 looks like it would literally eat the 211. I know that's an absurd idea, but it was the first thing that popped into my head when I saw your first picture. haha

I agree. The W211 does look slightly outdated, however is still a beautiful car.
I agree with Rowrbazzle; the W212 does look very mean, like it could eat the W211. It's a good look, IMO.

The two front shots show off how much better the 211 looks to me, but hey, to each their own. Seems the white on that 211 is kind of rustified in comparison to the clean-sharp white on the 212.

"Dated" is in the mind of an individual person, of course we've been looking at a 211 for 8 years so it'll look older compared to a brand new car, but "nicer" is what's important, to me personally. I think it looks "classic", you think "dated", we all can be happy.

Not if you saw any of my posts before the F10 surfaced. If you think what I say of of the 212 is bad, what I've said of the E60, E65, hideous X6, hideous new 5 GT, etc. etc. you'd probably assume otherwise.

Never posted these actually, but your post reminded me of the first time I checked out the 212's when they hit the lots in a bundle. I grabbed a few pics

Can't really get a clean one of the 211 and 212 next to each other, but this frontal pic, to me, shows off how much bizarrely better the 211's front looks compared to the fugly-goofiness going on up front on the E-Coupe's. Also, to me, that pic of the 211 behind the 212 shows off how much nicer the lines, and how much smoother it is to me.

You are definatley in the minority my friend. The front end of the new E blows away the old. Just look at the car when it is coming towards you on the road, its really beautiful to look at.

By the way Im not really a fan of the new E coupe, It shouldnt even be called an "E" coupe. The real E is the sedan. The grill on the sedan flows much better with the head lights.

It is more aggressive, but definitely not more cohesive, more macho, but not as pretty. Depends on your tastes. Plus the headlights are disproportionate in respect to the inner and outer lights on the 212, I prefer the round ones, but that's just me. The 212's is newer, more trendy in keeping with current design themes, of course the masses will like what's new, etc. I look at car from an enthusiasts perspective so I'm not concerned with that, etc.

I honestly don't see "beauty" in the 212's front, since as I said it's hard on my eyes at certain angles, *however*, you're right, the "coming to you" view, head on, is truly aggressive and very sharp, I'm not denying that. When it comes to me however, I usually like my cars to look classic and "pretty", if I want something super aggressive, I'd go for a new Camaro or muscle-car, etc. Again, just me though.

You're right about the C..erm.. E Coupe, the Sedan is where it's at, no contest.

I thought you said the 212 design was polarizing. I don't understand how it can be polarizing and also appeal to the masses. Or are you saying it's polarizing in that the masses like it whereas enthusiasts don't?

It is polarizing, but at the same time people usually jump on board with what's new. I don't think it'll be as universally "accepted" as the 211 was, but it'll spark a lot more "I love it", or "I hate it"'s, however my point was, usually people who don't care too much will just side with what's new in fashion or technology. Take it for what it is. I still hear a lot of people I know saying they like the 211's front more (the round lights thing mostly), or that both look good, just different, I guess that's probably the best way to put it.

Obviously there will be a lot of enthusiasts who uncaring about "new VS old" will like the 212's front more, besides the the proportions of the headlights, it's well executed, however just different, I think it's mainly a taste thing. Much more in your face though, as Motor Trend put it "desperately seeking status.... Almost too desperate". M-B knew what they were doing, the 211's was about subtlety and grace, they want people to think the new one either slaughters the look of the old, or naturally if it doesn't go that way, looks fumbled and overly messier.

I disagree, the front of the new E is a copy of new C. The design suits the C much more than the E. And the car is hideous from the back.

I guess beauty is in the eye of the beholder, and I still stop and admire a W211 every time it passes me by. Its a classic from every angle

It is.. just join the front lights and you will see it. Both are too similar, However the difference in the lights make the C look much better.
