Ipod connection question

hi - I have a new E350. The forums have been incredibly helpful. I have an old ipod that i've loaded with all my song libraries and want to leave connected to the ipod cable in my car 24X7 so i can listen to my music while driving. Is it ok to do this? Will it drain the battery or does the charging function shut off when the car shuts off? Thanks

The cable that comes with 2010 should charge the older ipod and place it in pause mode when the car or audio is off. It should not discharge.

A Newer ipod needs the updated cable or aftermarket adapter.

I have not experienced discharge of the Ipod or Car Battery and I leave the ipod attached in the car 24/7.

I have an IPOD 3GS and when I have it plugged into the ipod cable it does not charge. Is there any reason why it doesnt?

Part number is A 001 827 84 04 and the Mercedes-Benz suggested retail price is $67

Replaces the current cable in glove box.

I got my E350 about 2 weeks ago (just delivered from factory) and the factory supplied cable will charge my iphone 3GS. Thanks, however, for the details on those little adapters as I ordered a few to make all those old generation charging cables I still have useful again

You must have got a different cord. I bought mine on Saturday and the cable in mine doesn't charge my phone. Guess I need to get another cord.
