Hi Taiwanese:
I installed HID, bought a slim ballast and "stuffed" into the projector light housing. A little nervous about "stuffing" the ballast but I will pay attention to the heat of the ballast. Read in some posts that the heat was not a problem.
I don't get an error codes, as there was a second in line device to take care of it. Relatively easy besides remove the original wire from the OEM bulb.

I got the kit from HIDEXTRA.COM, I have a H7 bulb and ordered the slim ballast. They currently have a $20.00 coupon. COUPON CODE: loyaltysp-m
It's a generic Chinese brand but it works.

Great tip crazygordon, I just purchased these Slim Ballast 8000K H7 for $70 free shipping and I was able to install the passenger side and works perfectly without error messages, but I can’t get my "skinny" hands in the drivers side. The owner’s manual says to remove the screw for the wash reservoir and move it aside, that doesn’t help. Does anyone know when else to remove to access the bulb?

i just installed the drivers side finally (my arm is in pain). I drove about 100-200 feet and both lights turned off and i got the check low beam message in the dash. Do i have to get this cars ECU set to xenon=present like i had to do with my 2008 E350? Crazygordon, did yours work without getting the ECU programmed?

Smelkony, did you get the additional harness required so the ECU does not indicate a light bulb out? My kit came with one these for each ballast; therefore I did not have to program the ECU and I don't get a light bulb out. Its some kind of load resistor that tricks the computer. It was included with my kit so if they forgot, you should get it from them, its included in the price. Good luck.

that would be great if you can. I also emailed the people at hidextra.com and they are doing to send me "capacitors" to install. Hopefully it's simple to install and will resolve my issue. Thanks

Thanks. I don't have the smaller part on top, the girl at hidextra said it should arrive in 4-7 business days. I guess no driving at night for a week. Thanks again for taking the time to snap a pic, very helpful.

I did the same thing by unintentionally removing the high beam bulb as I was reaching into the tight space - I installed it back in place. Now that I have access to the low beam headight assembly, I have a hard time removing it. I tried to turn it counterclockwise with either my left or right hand to no avail. It wiggles a little bit but I could not pull it out. Could you please share your techniqe with me? Thanks.

I just changed out the lights to extreme whites.
It took me about 2 minutes to change out the bulbs. I was patting myself on the back until I realized I changed out the high-beams. damn...
Changing out the low-beam on the driver side is a BIACH! (definitely took more than 2 min.) I wear 8.5 gloves (snug). Ultimately, I got it in. Damn. It was a chore.

MBWorld Fanatic!
I ordered PIAA Extreme White bulbs as soon as my E550 (no P1 or P2) arrived. They dramatically improved nighttime visibility, as well as appearance of the car. As others have said, installation is painful but worth it! I also had to adjust headlight aim. MB factory had the headlights aimed at the ground!?!?!
I would like to also install PIAA EW bulbs in the running lights (stock are yellow). Anyone know the bulb type?
