RickP's E550 offer

Gents,
Here is what I got from the dealer last night. I deferred any decision untill next week.

E550
Sport
P2
Driver assistance
Fold down rear seat
Drive Dynamic Seating
Night view
Obsidian Black
Black interior
Aluminum Trim (Special order)

I think thats it...

MSRP = 71,800
Sell Price 68,815

My financing situation requres me to put 15K COD and I wind up with a 750 Monthly payment.

I can "consume" my C and lease the car for 36months at 1050 montly payment. To me leasing is not an option but I thought I would throw it out there.

I think 3k off MSRP is an average deal around here in these boards....

Comments?? TIA

RickP

I got 4K off.

You absolutely must post interior pics once you have the car!

If you are on LI, my dealer in Massapequa got me $6k off. I think they are still in the $5k range....

Keep in mind I am ordering this car, not taking one off of the Lot. Is it still reasonable to expect 5K off? I told him I wanted him below 68K but he wouldn't budge. Can I still heckel him when he calls back?

Massapequa is also my dealer. Who did you buy the car from - I am speaking with Todd F.

Regards,
Rick

Have you tried The American Express Auto purchasing progrram?

Costco also has a pre-negotiated discount (~5%?), but I think AMEX is a higher discount. It worked out at just over 6.5% when I used the calculator on the 2010 E class. The question is will the dealers honor the price. Maybe worth a shot. Let us know.

Get on Zag.com to get the Amex or Overstock discount. I used this and got a bigger discount than your dealer is offering . You can also order your exact specifications from the dealer that gives the best deals as those prices are all relative to invoice and don't have to be from something on the lot. I have tested this a couple of times and every time Zag.com prices are lower than the "lowest" the dealer is willing to give you otherwise and usually by more than $1000. Caveat is not all dealers participate.

USAA has very big discounts on Mercedes, too. Dealer participation varies, but through their website you can build a car and it will give you prices from the participating dealers. I saved a ton on my E-Class through USAA.

USAA pricing is just Zag price with the added USAA fleet discount. Take a look at USAA website and Overstock's next to each other for example. They're both using Zag.

If one can't get lower prices than these web prices which anyone can pull up, then I guess the days of haggle pricing is behind us?

Huh. I didn't even know you could buy cars through Overstock.com. Yeah, it looks like it's the same as the USAA pricing. Good to know. Still the pricing (when I was buying my E350) was anywhere from invoice to $2,000 under invoice (depending on location). Even if you don't add in the extra $2,000 USAA gives you on an E, that still seems like a heck of a deal. I can't imagine negotiating down to $2000 under invoice.

Through Overstock, that car could be about $65,000 for your location. I actually used a dealership in Maryland (R&H Mercedes) and they were very easy to work with. They had to bring in the car, but still honored the price. Even if I'd had a car built they said they would have still given the same price. I've heard other dealers aren't as flexible when it comes to honoring these kinds of discounts, though. This was my only experience and it was a very good one. Good look to you!
