Price of the extended designo leather appointment option (Y80)

Hi all

I am going to order a 2011 E550 in Canada.

I would like to add the extended designo leather appointment option (Y80).

With this option, the upper part of the dashboard and the door panels below the windows are covered in black leather.

Click the "designo extra" tab on the following link if interested.

http://www2.mercedes-benz.co.uk/cont...s/designo.html

Does anyone know the price of this option for the 2010 model?

Thank you in advance.

I wanted to order this as the Designo "Extended Leather" option on the 2011 E550 that I ordered. However, you can only get it if you are getting the Designo leather (seats, etc.) You can not order it with the regular leather. At least that is what the dealer in North Vancouver told me.

Just the "extended leather" was $3,600. it seemed like a lot but I would have done it if I could...provided I didn't have to get the rest of the leather as Designo.

Thanks for the replies guys.

I did order the designo leather as one of my options. I thought adding $2,400 to upgrade to designo leather is not that bad.

$3600 for extended leather is not far off from the $3,000 dealer's estimate.

I guess I will go ahead to order.

P34 - Exclusive package

There is also the "exclusive package" (code P34), that includes leather covered dashboard and upper door panels with decorative stitching.

Exclusive Package (P34)

Interior equipment:

-Nappa leather upholstery, comprising seats, leather trimmed armrest and door center panels clad in ruffled leather

-Wood/leather steering wheel, Black ash for Avantgarde (954) or Burr walnut for Elegance (955)

-Roof lining, pillars & sun visors in Alcantara (beige or gray)

-Dashboard and upper door paneling in high quality trim and visible top stitching

-Velour floor mats

*Only in conjunction with Glass electric sunroof with tilt/slide function (414) or Panoramic sunroof (413) at additional cost. If ordered in conjunction with Open-pore ash wood trim (H09) or Brushed aluminum trim (H76), Wood/leather steering wheel is deleted.

-Black, beige or gray as interior colors (The Exclusive Package can also be combined with Designo leather/trim).

Not available in conjunction with AMG Sports package (950) or Rear seats with integrated child seats (248).

For the E63, the Exclusive Package includes:
-Nappa leather upholstery, comprising seats, upper section of dashboard, waistlines, door and center console armrests and center door panels.
-Roof lining, pillars and sun visors in Alcantara.
-AMG floor mats in black with AMG logo.

Looks nice. I'd get it just for the gathered leather door inserts.

The price is probably similar to the full Designo package. If anyone knows, it would be interesting to find out.

My dealer just informed me that this option cannot be ordered since it did not get through the Canadian Safety Standards.

Is it true or just a lack of effort by the dealership?

I remember reading somewhere recently, that the Nappa leather covered dash did not meet safety standards.
Not sure if it was in the U.S. or Canada or both.

The synthetic leather/MB-Tex stitched dash from the standard (non AMG) Exclusive package was being substituted.
I think this was in regards to the 2011 E63.

I'll see if I can find the info.

Ah, here it is. YYZ-E55 posted this in another thread.

For 2011, the E63 gets nappa leather (a huge upgrade) and a stitched ARTICO/MB-Tex dashboard in Canada as of September production and I would assume in USA as well.
Looks like the dealer may be right.

Y80 was on the 2010 MY Canadian Designo order guide though.
Check and make sure with another dealer and/or MBC to make
sure it's no longer available.

If Y80 is out, you could see if you could order the P34 exclusive package, which includes
the MB-Tex covered dash w/visible top stitching.

It would still look nice (I know, not the same as Nappa).

I have emailed Mercedes Benz Canada and waiting for a reply now.

Will ask the dealer about the P34 Exclusive Package. Thanks.

MB Canada comes back saying no to both options.

My only choice is as follow:

- Stitched dashboard with ARTICO leather and regular leather seats

- Or regular dashboard with Designo leather seats

Which option should I go for? What do you guys prefer and why?

Thanks

Just to be clear, it was never tested - if it was, it would certainly meet the requirements. The cost of testing versus the anticipated take rate made it a no-go.

It's a waste of money and designo will slow production of your car by as much as two months.

Unfortunatly Not A Silver Star
I find it really interesting, how few people seem to order their cars with designo options, I used to work at a Mercedes dealership and I think in 3 Years I know of 2 cars that were bought.

I don't find the "regular" dashboard in the E Sedan offensive (versus the coupe), whereas I find standard (non-nappa) leather to be rough and unappealing. Thus I would go with designo leather and an Alcantara headliner.

May be most of the people ordering the Mercedes don't even know what is Designo to begin with??

Slightly confused here on the safety -- is the leather dash really less safe somehow?

And anyone know what the options are in the US?

The dash in the pics from MB_FanAddict -- is that black, or "mocha" ?
