Setting mirror compass on 2011 E550

Just took delivery of my 2011 E550, P2, Driver Assistance (997), Luxury Pagage (167). etc. I'm trying to align the compass function in the rearview mirror per the instructions in the manual which descrbes pushing a button next to the passenger LED spot on the mirror. However, I see no button, but just an amber LED light. Doesn't look like a button was even there. Is the compass aligned from the GPS instead? Please advise. Thanks

If you have P2, you have the nav system. If you have the nav system, you don't get the compass in the mirror.
You can bring up a compass in the display in the speedometer by scrolling to "NAV" if you don't have an active navigation route.

Ah, but there IS a compass in the mirror in 2011. Nice red LED display in the upper right corner of the rearview mirror. But, your point suggests that the compass is getting input from the NAV system so it doesn't need manual calibration. The manual fails to describe this relationship.

This is not true. There is a compass and there is a button ( at least in my car) to just turn it on or off. I never did any adjustments or calibration of compass.

UPDATE: I did receive the required information from Mercedes support in Germany via Mercedes Customer Care in Park Ridge, NJ.. The procedure is as described in the Operator's Manual, but the activation button described therein DOES NOT exist in the position stated. Instead, there is an access hole to the left of the three door opening buttons through which is located a microswitch which is activated by inserting the end of a paper clip. I reset the zone for my car to 9 (NC) from 8 (GA) which was the port default. Now the compass in the rearview mirror agrees with the compass function on the NAV displaly on the Command screen.

Hope this helps others.
