Used W212 E550 – Fair Value?

Used W212 E550 – Fair Value?
So, I am thinking about selling my E550. There is nothing wrong with the vehicle… In fact, I love it, but it is a little big for my needs and I have been itching for a convertible lately.
I know I will lose money selling a car so quickly, so no need to tell me.
The reason for this thread is that the car is still very new and there is no KBB or equivalent value guide to help me price the vehicle fairly. I have done some research on Auto Trader and currently there is only 1 private sale out there for a comparably equipped 2010 E550 (sedan) and the seller is asking for $56,335 (mileage = 5.5K).
I need some opinions on what you think is a fair selling price.
Here are the specs on my E550 (RWD not 4Matic):
Purchased in Nov 2009
Current Mileage: ~16K (mainly highway)
Exterior/Interior: Black Metallic / Black Leather w/ Walnut trim
Other Features: P2, Parktronic, Split Rear Seats, Sport Pack, 18" AMG Wheels
Damage: Tiny nick on the front right wheel from a curb check (~1 in)
I am thinking something around $52K-53K because of the mileage.
Thanks for the input.

Car loses in value about $10K for first year. More expensive car loses more. So I guess your price is about right, now find a buyer.
You can post several ads with different prices coming like from differen sellers and see which price takes most attention.

I agree, I would list for high $50s to start, since you can always go down, but not back up.
Just curious, but I thought at one point you were living in Germany with the car. Are you now back in the U.S.?

Thanks for the suggestions.
pmb, actually I am still in Germany. But, if I can't find a buyer here, I am thinking about shipping the car back to the US and doing a cost-to-coast road trip and selling it at the end. We'll see.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Thanks again.

1. your car has a thirsty gas V8. More than 90% of E Class sold in Germany are diesel.
2. your car is a US spec model that would likely only appeal to a US based buyer.
Your best option, as you seem to have already concluded, is to ship the car to the US and go from there.
Good luck !

Ah, I see. If selling in Germany I would imagine that your asking price would be different than what we suggested. The cars are more expensive to begin with over there, so I would be curious to see what you can get on the used market. As Derek mentions a gas V8 would be a tougher sell there, but to the right person, I think it could be a great find. There are so many more features that are standard on the U.S. models and yours is pretty much fully loaded.
