Yep, the wood is nice, but that standard of fit and finish and integration of systems (AC, radio) wouldn't be acceptable in the cheapest car today.

While the older cars are lovely to look at and drive nicely in a straight line, they generally handle like jello on a wet plate. While I generally wish that I still had my old Benzes, they really aren't a driver's car anymore.

Ha ha. CEB, I guess you forgot what it was like to drive your 600 in the sport suspension setting. While not a Panamera but pretty damn good for a two and a half ton sedan otherwise. My buddy was following me one day in my GL350 and he had a hard time keeping up through the twisties. Similarly he found my 600 quite impressive around the hills of Western Connecticut as he followed me in my W216 CL600 replete with ABC suspension.

Thanks so much; my dealer hasn't contacted me yet about the wood...I hope he didn't forget to order it...

CEB, I'll make sure to see the wood panel and compare it once it's installed. Thanks for the advice. Note: I was driving home the other day to see a diamond white CLS63 AMG parked outside the neighbor's house. I noticed that from a distance, it actually looks matte, but when you get closer and see the sun's reflection, it's obviously diamond white...but my! it gives off quite a matte sheen from afar and probably hides swirls VERY well.

dbtk, amazing 600! That wood looks awesome
