Agreed. Everyone has their "line" here.

I'm know MANY people's motives for debadging ARE in fact to try and hope that people assume they have a "higher model". Funny thing is, most people don't care, nor would think you're at a higher "level" being in a 550. 550's are so rarely seen, and look identical to 350's, to the point that I don't think anyone would even get it. For the people who do know the difference, big whoop, an extra $6K or whatever of car, no biggie. It's the E63/AMG badges that would really even garner any "reaction", if one were poseur-ish-ly going after that.

Funny thing to note: When I had my W211 E350, I posted on the Forums that I wanted to get the badge PUT BACK on my car (original owner took it off), lol. Everyone was talking me out of it, saying it looked cleaner without it. I went to the M-B Dealer, and the Service guy talked me out of putting the badge back on.

I personally don't even have a problem with someone getting an E63 front bumper, or all E63 body parts on their car, as I chalk that up to aesthetic modding (and much nicer than any cheesy aftermarket stuff). AS LONG AS they don't put any false badging.

False badging is the lowest common denominator in the car world to me, basically.

I think debagging is cool but a bit dangerous. One day I spotted absolutely gorgeous looking car, big wheels, completely black. Everything was black wheels, windows, tail lights…. I could bet it is some mainstreamer but I couldn’t recognize which. I should drive really close to get a better look so almost crashed my car in it. I still have no idea what was make of the car, I think it is Altima. Anyway, debugged car takes a lot attentions, it is like paint my hair (not much left) in orange, blue and green. People will think that I am crazy, but certainly will notice me. So OP if you decide do that, please do, I would love to see your car.

Thats funny because I would call a debadged E350 with E63 parts a bigger poser than a E350 with an AMG badge.

Yeah, to me, that's fair game (E63 parts).

I mean, if someone goes to every length to try and emulate an E63, that's pretty cheesy. But let's say if you get into a fender bender, and need a new front end, no problem in getting an E63 front bumper, or rear bumper, or wheels, etc. IMO.

2010 E550
Owner of a de-badged E550 here...

Right before I took off the E550 badge a guy asked me if it was really a 550. I said "Yes... do you think I bought a 350 and then bought a 550 badge to go with it?" He said "yes." My jaw dropped... And so I opened the hood.

I de-badged the car because I like the "clean" look.

Debadge for the clean look. I have done it to every car I have owned because I like it. I debadged my modded e92 335 because it just looked better. I debadged my lifted and modded wrangler unlimited because it just looks better.

One of my partners has a 2009 slk350 and a 2009 cls550. He has meticulously rebadged them as slk55 and cls63, complete with the side fender 6.3 badges. The point? Who the hell knows? Almost no one cares and, those who would can just check the dual exhausts to know the score. Whatever...he likes it. Case closed.

E550 Coupe
yooo dontt listenn to all these morons ayy, if u wnaa take the badges off take it off, if u wnaa put a damn AMG badge on it cuz u got AMG parts on it then go ahead and doo it, i rememeber a few yrs ago where benz cars would come straight outta the factory with amg badges on it cuz it had the amg kit, just cuz they dont do it for the newer ones dosent mean u cant do it. I have a e550 coupe of my own n ima prolly take the badgess off too, whats the big idea. Just dont be stupid n put E63 or someethin.

IMO i wouldnt do the AMG badge, but if u think itll look better and wna do it, screw what these guys are sayin n do it, ur not doin something on ur car to impress others, do it cuz u want it!

Oh man, that's the worst when they do that.

M-B used to put AMG badges on cars with the AMG Sport Package?

Actually, realistically, if someone puts an "E63" or "AMG" badge on the back of their car, arguably they're not doing it because those numbers/letters look better than what the car already comes with, they're doing it only to impress others, to look more "prestigious" than they assume they already do.

Interesting. I didn't know that. I'll try and lookup some stock older models with AMG Pack (I'd assume, if this is true, the W210 would have to be a model in question, as before it I dunno if they supplied M-B's with AMG/Sports Package).

Agreed about adding the 6.3 emblems. I wish those people would be banned from buying nice cars! How tacky and lame.
