remote start
Was told by my dealer several months ago that they will have remote start available for cars with Keyless go soon. Has anyone else heard this and/or gotten it yet? If so what size king's ransom did you have to cough up?
I am anxious to do this with our northeast winter fast approaching.

I'd definitely be interested in this too.......and mentioned it on another post just today I think! hehe........
I have it on my 98 f150 and it's awesome........it trips people out too; a nice plus.....
it was only 300 bux too, but of course that was for a ford, hehe........
I'd like to get this for my benz too if it becomes available; kind of surprised it hasn't been offered sooner.....or has it??

huh
it's merely to warm the car and engine before getting in; so you don't have to go outside and do it........seems like that would be a plus in Sweden man!
guess because we're Americans?

Not illegal in most places in US with exception of a few places. In any case I wouldn't want the thing running 20 min.... Maybe 3 or 4 just to get it warmed. Bad to start off with super cold oil too.
I'll look into the engine heater you suggest though. Hadn't really considered it but seems sensible.

The remote starter has been available for the W212 E class since they hit the shores. It works great and literally thousands of people have had them installed at this point (and they are all nicely warm on even the coldest days)

Unfortunate accident because of remote start
This news story was posted today on the WRAL-TV website about a car that was unintentionally remotely started while in the garage. I guess that it didn't have the safety provisions to prevent the car from running so long.

I don't think I need it since I live in California and parked my W212 inside of garage everyday. also my work parking is covered one.

Its called the SmartKey starter and this product is awesome. if u live in any cold region and always wanted a remote starer for you Mercedes Benz i have this product installed in my C300 and it works beautifully. i never had any faults with the product myself. rarely ppl do, but they carry a warranty on all they're products. Im actually very lucky to live around the corner from the company that designed the smart key remote starter module, and became good friends with the engineer who designed the part The new upgraded Module is easy to install with a plug and play harness system, and will cost you 999.99 with install or 799.99 for just parts. if you have any questions about shipping or anything else, feel free to contact me at 773-332-2215 orMercedesB_Ent86@yahoo.com, my name is Sonny and i hope i was able to help.

i was interested in the product especially to warm up my car. But I emailed them a simple question of who and where can I get it installed and how much it would be. The response was a list of 50 vendors.
I asked which ones had it in stock and how much install would be.
Their response was lame, he stated, they have no idea who has what and how much. And they have no idea what they charge. Which was completely useless.
I'm sure they may not have full visibility, but they should have an idea of which vendors of theirs are stocking and which general ball park of how much install is.
After that email, I said forget it, if they can't even answer a simple question like that, I can't imagine how they would be when i have a problem. Besides, like i'm going to call 50 vendors to check on pricing and quotes. It's just a waste of time.
I decided I could live without it.

got mine at Estate Motors in Goldens Bridge. was about 1200. Kind of a hike from the bronx but for a few hundred bucks might be worth it.
