Keep looking, it's surely there! The brake hold only works when you are completely stopped and you set it by pressing on the brake pedal. As soon as you hit the gas it shuts off so it's not really controlling anything. It's more like setting the parking brake.

Biggest surprise of my 212...

Worst:
Having the front breaks replaced twice in less than 12 months.

Best:
The power under the hood.

WHAT?? Our cars come with that?????? I thought the U.S didn't get it????

How exactly do you activate it? And does the I/C Display notify you when it's actually working?

This car just keeps getting better and better.

Surprised by the power of the V6.
Like the rear window shade.
Like how smooth and quiet the car rides.
C class hasn't had them since 2008

How much would that suck if you could only use the memory seats when the car is stopped....

How much does the nav suck cuz you can't use it when the car is over 3 mph. i prefer the safety and convenience of holding the button.

Also agree on not using real leather for the seating surfaces. I recently purchased some beatiful home-theater power recliners and to save money I got real leather on the seating surfaces, but everything else is some version of the MB-Tex. Good compromise.

Check the engineering menu...I added guides to the camera in my C class.

I didn't know this either.......seems it could come in handy if you're rear ended? would you still plow the car ahead of you? or would it lessen?
example: when hit from behind and foot is on brake, may have a tendency to lift foot off, versus having the car already braking on it's own?
am I making sence?

Read through this thread..and follow the directions in Post 24.

The lines are not dynamic and don't move like Infiniti's do. Also the reason they aren't up is they may not work perfectly for the car, but I like them anyway. So once you have them up, do some "testing" to figure out if you can believe what the lines are marking out.

To access the engineering menu I believe you hold "Hang up," "1", and "#" all on the dashboard NOT the steering wheel. Also I am not responsible if any inadvertent changes are made.

After you follow post 24, you can just shut off your car. Wait about 15 minutes and turn it back on, and it should work.

Camera Guide Lines

Let us know if it works for u.

LOL!
I just mean that there is a lot in the engineering menu so if you start fiddling around in there without knowing what you are doing, you may end up back at the dealer with an expensive repair bill.

I'm confused why you posted a link to my profile?

Does this car have the world's worst nav or am I doing something wrong?

1. The nav does not speak the street names.

2. You can't get a summary list of the route.

3. It doesn't have an icon for turning left or right. So if you don't have the sound on, or if it is muted, you have no idea which way to turn. Why doesn't the screen read, "Turn left on Main Street?"

4. You can't get the next turn and the estimated time of arrival to show at the same time.

5. The routing software is inferior to a $149 Garmin.

Nope, all 212/207 E-Class have this feature standard. And yes after you activate it, it shows "HOLD" in the IC. Just lightly tap the gas to release it. You can also push down on the brake pedal again to get it to release. Very cool feature too is that with the 212 since it has shift by wire, if you are in "HOLD" and you open the driver's door, the car automatically shifts to park to avoid you rolling away in case you forgot you had hold on.

I saw this on the BMW 550i I drove during the Ultimate Drive tour, but I didn't like the auto hold they use as much. I found that the car would put the brake hold on too soon. For example, when I was coming to a stop, it felt like the hold function took over too soon almost before the car was fully stopped, which made it feel jerky to me.

Amazing. I looked it up, and found slightly conflicting data, in how to activate it. Seems like the most common method is by pushing down on the brake once - very hard, but I've also seen people say you give it too medium-force taps? I'll try it out.

When I first got the car I couldn't get it to activate, but it was not a problem with the car, I just had to get a feel for it. I personally don't like to push down on the brake pedal in one hard motion, I always brake as normal and then just give it a further little nudge once you are already stopped. This seems to do it perfectly everytime.

Its a very light quick tap. If you do it too slow it wont activate.

Time to focus on a few positives:

1. It was raining this morning and the wiper delay seemed to have a sixth sense.

2. Love the fact that the rear view miror has a digital compass.

3. A few nice storage areas - under the front seats and under the trunk.

4. The stardard fronts seats have nice side bolstors.

5. COMAND is as easy to use as iDrive. I can't understand anyone having trouble using this after a day or two.

Back to complaint mode:

1. If I didn't lease this car I would take out a saw and hack off the cruise control stalk. MB can't defend this stupid location.

2. I literally can't see at night with the aweful standard lights on this car. It's my first (and last car) without xenons is the past decade. Had to drive my wife's 2006 Acura TL with standard xenons tonight so I din't run off the road.

3. I guess you get what you pay for. Probably a much better car in E550/P2 trim.

It truly is the oddest thing on the car. Bad placement...and to turn it on you pull it toward you? Maybe it's only me, but I would have designed it to be activated when you push it away (towards the direction you are going).

Go forward...duh...(maybe it's just me). Pull it back to you...off.

Agreed.

BTW, I love your front grill mod. Reminds me of another thing I dislike - the silly pretensious hood ornament.

So funny how we all see these things so oppositely, lol.

To me, part of the experience of owning a Benz is allowing it to live up to that historic "automotive pretentiousness", so having the hood-star is just like a cool historic monument to me, per-se. It embodies that proudness of the "Ultimate Luxury Sedan" that a Benz should be.

That said, I feel the look of the Luxury grille and stand up star is far more subdued and clean than that of the more showy giant star-tooth grille.

But yeah, I think if you want the ultimate of "no pretension", than a Luxo grille and a flat badge is the way to go. I just like to find a medium ground.
