Ipod issue

I like to listen to audio books on the Ipod when driving. Problem is that most audio books are in multiple parts and my car does not automatically go to the next part upon conclusion of the current part. Instead, the current part is repeated.

As much as I disliked my BMW, at least it did not have this issue.

Anyone else experience the same problem or does yours automatically switch?

Which Ipod do you have? I have a 2010 E550 and listen to audio books on the nano. It switches from chapter to chapter just fine. The thing I don't like is that you can not fast forward or rewind.

I'll be there is one particular Ipod that works best. I had to get an adapter so that my Ipod would charge when it is plugged in. They said that it was becuase of the generation Ipod I had.

My Ipod is the Nano 3d Generation. I had the same issue when using it on my 2008 S550 but not on my 2011 BMW 535i. That is why I suspected that the issue was with the car rather than the Ipod. Which Ipod are you using? Where did you get the adapter?

I don't know what generation I am using. I got it from Lexis Nexis for listening to a presentation for some of their new Legal research products. However, it is not touch screen but does have a video recorder.

I ordered the adapter from my dealer. $89. With it your nano will charge when connected to the dongle in the glove box.

I am wondering if newer generation nanos or newer Ipods may have more functionality (such as being able to choose a chapter from an audio book using the command system).

I bought a new Ipod Nano for my 2011 at time of delivery. It plays well but won't charge. I think it is a 5th generation. It's been over four months now and MB still doesn't have a fix.

Maybe you have repeat track settings on? iPod doesn't care much if it is ibook or music track. Actually ibook track has a flag telling iPod to remember last listening position in track, instead of a track. And if BMW works with your iPod just fine, let me think that you have repeat track setting activated. Both BMW and MB use iPod in a similar mode.

Thanks, Dema. Problem solved -- it was the Ipod repeat track setting. Foolish me, I didn't even think to look at Ipod settings. The only time I take the Ipod out of the car is to hook it up to the computer to add/delete audiobooks.
