Top Speed?
So is removing the Gov on the 4matic a bad idea or is it only for tire rating like non 4matics?
A friend had one just like it except with an automatic. He always floored it when accelerating. When the transmission shifted it would snap your neck -- a world of difference between then and now!
By the way, was this on a track or hwy when the G35 passed you at 130mph? How fast do you want to go?

Well, everyone is not interested on fast driving and not everyone that think can do it CAN NOT. However, some of us like fast driving and are capable of doing it safely.
If you are a fast driving loving person the experience on a stretch of unlimited Autobahn is a real thrill. When the car you are driving is made to handle the speed the drive does not even feel that fast and surely is not scary.
The biggest problem really is amongst the cars going slow and making stupid moves to fast lane without watching their back (rear view mirror). Other than that it is quite safe actually.
I personally did 250 km/h (155 mph) on an Audi A6 Avant Sports Line (3 L Diesel) and it was very easy. That car could have gone much faster but it was a rental with tire speed limit at 240 km/h.
There is a lot of talk going on in Germany right now about putting speed limits on Autobahns. A lot of folks over there think this is necessary and I think it is just a matter of time it will happen. This all means goodbye for cars made for extremely fast and safe driwing. What a shame it will be...
The limiter doesn't make a whole lot of real world sense in itself since somebody can be in danger even at 100, or 120, etc.. But German manufacturers initially started the "gentlemen's agreement", limiting their vehicles to 155 mph, since high speeds are allowed on the Autobahn. But do we really want a 80-year old with bad reflexes or a 16-year old with bad judgment be able to hit 155 anytime, anywhere? (rhetorical question)
High top speeds beyond reason are realistically only about bragging rights and marketing to sell performance cars. Like Bugatti Veyrons.

But now I'm a married "grownup" and haven't even taken my MB to 100, and doubt I'll take it much beyond that.

I took my 210 to 130 on an unoccupied hi-way at 530 am with no one in sight,,if I f****d up,,Im the only casualty.
Haven't really pushed the 212 up there yet but I will,once again,alone
Oh man

If I ever do meet him,,hope he has hair like Blago, and a bank roll like Corzine
Seriously,,my motto is simple. Its not how fast you drive, its how you drive fast.
Its not for everyone for sure and some are better than others.
