foggy windows
I live in Chicago and have found the windows to be very prone to getting fogged during the winter.
I always leave climate settings to Auto (A/C indicator on, no air recirculation) and have no extra source of moisture in my car. It's a problem even when alone, but more so with a full car- rear side windows are the worst , but even windshield and driver side too.
I'm finding I have to often use the max defrost setting or at least drive with defrost settings always on - not very comfortable and I've never had this problem on previous cars.
Others? Ideas?
Thx
just my thought.....

I have seen complaints about the windscreen getting misty at cold ambient temperatures, more often than on a W211. Perhaps the airflow to the windscreen is adjusted too low or too cold (at auto setting).

I've only had my car since Oct 30th, so I don't have any long term feedback... How long have you had your car? Maybe this is something that goes away after a few weeks?

I live in Minnesota and have the same problem. Yesterday, temp was 3 degrees, by my self and the driver side window frosted over. the front driver side windshield also frosted up. When I have two or more passengers, all the windows frost over. I have to have the defroster on full [no heat to the floor] to try to keep the windows clear.
My previous Volvo had no problem keeping all the windows clear in very low temps when the car had four passengers.
Has any member been able to fix this issue at the dealer?
The solution? Clean the interior of your windows. I have found that products like Windex do not work well, as the build-up gets moved around and not really removed. I used to use Porsche window cleaner, but it was expensive and hard to find. Now I use Invisible Glass. Cheap, readily available (I have no association with them). You will not believe the difference -- I go from foggy windows nearly every time in the car to not foggy at all for months.

Anyway I suppose A/C dries the air while the heater heats it...
I do keep the vehicle in a garage. Current temp in garage is 32 degrees.
My wife's BMW is in there also and it does not fog up after leaving the garage.
ttoE550: a month ago I had the side windows and rear window tinted. So the glass is very clean. Again, my wife's BMW is also tinted and no Fog.
Appreciate your input and comments.
Same thing happened in my 2010 E550, not a lot of storms last couple of years but it still happened.
Probably a lot of moisture in the air as it was about 32 degrees but I never experienced this with any other vehicle I have owned.
Wife doesn't have the problem with her CLS550.

Next time you drive in condition like this try the following:
Put the air blow to the windscreen and turn the A/C OFF. AND turn the temperature UP.
I don't understand car makers who think A/C is good for getting fog off of the windshield in winter. I have learned that the "old fashioned" heated air works the best.
