Apologies...
To those of you I probably offended regarding Luxury vs. Sport, I apologize. Truth of the matter is that I would love a Sport with AMG with the luxury interior (if it was available); however, the car IS my wife's and she wants nothing to do with a sport trim with 18" wheels due to the 'rougher' ride and lower stance...and she is only 34 (I am 38). She had an 8 year old 325Ci before this and it road really rough and both of us damaged the front end a number of times due to the low front end. I was considering trading the luxury we have for a sport but she said, "Absolutely not, I love my luxury and I DO NOT want a sport". Guess momma knows best since four days ago we found out we are pregnant with our first!! Guess momma and the babies will prefer the smoother and quieter ride and being able to get in and out slightly easier due to taller stance of the luxury. So again, sorry if I offended anyone. You all have some beautiful sports out there....guess my wife and I will be the youngest with a luxury trim. hehehehe....

I doubt you offended anyone. You can't go wrong either way, anyway, if it's your wife's car, the only opinion that matters was hers
Congrats on the new addition.

MCF, I do not believe you offended anyone. We buy our cars based on personal preference, some prefer luxury; some prefer sport. I've had the luxury, now I have the sport as you mentioned. The difference in ride is minimal. The biggest thing I have had to learn deals with the height of the front end. Both are great cars.
Congratulations on that Great News. Hope all is well with the wife. Over Christmas, my son and his wife along with my daughter and her husband informed my wife and I that we are going to be Grandparents (2 times over) for the first time. It's a real thrill.
Good luck!

A good compromise is the 17" wheel sport package option. I think it is code 326 and it is available on either the E350 or 550 sport. It uses the 17" sport wheel which is standard on the E350 diesel (sport) and E350 wagon (sport) models. In areas with bad roads, this could be the ticket as the wheel is a nice design but leaves some wiggle room for pothole season in the northeast. Either way, I am sure you guys will love the car.

Congratulations!! We enjoy the heated debate but it was uncanny how you managed to diss both the sport and luxury owners, all in the same thread!! As I said both the sport and luxury are great vehicles. I had the e350 luxury in steel grey for 3 weeks and traded it back for a e550 sport in indium grey(both 4matic). I thought that the e350 was fabulous, drove like a scaled down s550!!! Drive train and suspension were great, found the 350 engine more than enough power. That said the e550 airmatic suspension is even better and I was shocked by how comfortable it is considering the 18 inch rims, even driving it in the sport mode(the adjustable suspension, with two settings, is only a feature with airmatic). Enjoy and best of luck. We are all driving some of the best cars ever made in the history of mankind!!! Doesn't suck. Thanks. Ned.

Yep..it's confirmed today!! The hormone level has more than doubled since Monday which means it is a real pregnancy, but unfortunately we know all too well that things can go bad without a moments notice. Funny thing is my wife wanted a 2011 ML350 but I knew that it was getting a complete make over in 2012. I know the E is getting the new motor, but my understanding is that the ML will be re-done inside and out (inside is supposed to get close to the inside of an E). If the E doesn't work out for the babies, we may be trading in the 2011 E350 for a 2012 ML350 - BUT, I will go for a P2 package this time.

The new ML will be redone inside and out AND with new motors and will be here in the summer. The E was a better choice as I have both cars and the E is much nicer looking and feeling but the new ML should be on par with the E. I have 2 small kids, both cars are fine with kids but the ML is better because of the higher height, easier to get the car seat in and out, plus the inherent feeling of safety being an SUV

Congrats!!!! Our 7mo old falls asleep in comfort or sport mode so you'll be good in any case. I can comfortable take our 7 mo old and 3yo in mye550 but for longer family trips we usually take our mdx.

I've been told that the new ML won't be introduced until 2012 as a 2013 model or almost two years away.

Congrats!! Get as much sleep as you can, you'll need in 9 months Wife wanted the ML also but I overruled the decision (yeah, I'm paying for it!) and got the E. She was used to our R so it's a big change for her but she'll get over it! We only need one vehicle as my daily driver is the damn NYC subway. We'll look into the new ML when this one goes back in 24 mths.

Congratulations.
I have owned 3 ML's and my wife still drives her ML 320 CDI - great family car and very practical in day to day usage.
Not the same as an E class though - I am pleased I sold my ML500 for my E500 as I have finally convinced my wife I am a car man.

I hope they make Airmatic a stand-alone option by the time my lease is up. The Europeans have this option already.

Of course if you get a wagon it has airmatic on the back doesn't it.
