NEED HELP ON THE BLUETOOTH AUDIO
I did turn on the bluetooth audio function on the command center. But I can not connect it with my iPhone 4. The phone funtion had no problem. It just won"t connect to the audio. It showed no device found or your device is not compareable ? Please help and thanks in advance!

Not sure if I can help other than to say I know for sure the iPhone 4 BT Audio definitely works on MY 2011 E350. Other than connecting the phone, I had to do nothing else to get BT Audio to work. Perhaps others can chime in.

You do external authorization. You go to BT audio devices and move right to OPTIONS. Select "External authorization". When you do this it gives a message "Ready for external authorization". Open your phone setting on bluetooth and hit the device bar. It will then show in Comand a message if you want to authorize the device you are trying to connect. Answer "YES" and then it gives the screen to input pass code in Comand and after that same in the phone. Enter codes and it connects.
After this you might need to do the same for phone side, i.e. if you phone connection drops, like with my iPhone 3GS, do the same external authorization on BT phone side in Comand.

Do I have to do that every time when I restart the car? I got disconnect every time I turn off the engine and need to do it all over again.

Really? Since my initial authorization at the dealership when I picked up the car, I haven't had to do anything other than selecting BT Audio in the COMAND Menu and playing a song on the phone.

Well, mine does not work like that. I have to re-authorize every time I start the car.
Do you also use an iPhone for BT audio?

Yes, I have an iPhone 4 and use it for both phone and BT Audio (music streaming). Each time I get in the car and start it, my COMAND screen will display "Connected to Michael's iPhone" within a few seconds without any interaction from me. I then go to BT Audio source in COMAND and whatever song is playing on the iPhone (in my pocket) is played over the car's system. If I exit the car while playing, it resumes when I return (like when exiting to pay for gas, etc).
You're telling me you have to reconnect/re-auth the phone every time you get in? Something could be wrong....

Mine is iPhone 3GS. The phone connects automatically but the PT audio does not work unless I do the "External Authorization".
Perhaps the difference is in the phone itself?

Mike, do you have Media interface Plus? With media interface plus module in the glove box, the bluetooth audio will work once and for all. But without it, I have to re authorize the phone all the time. If you do not have the media interface plus module, then may be MB upgraded the firmware. I have to check this with the dealer.

I do not have the MIP. Is there a way to check what comand firmware is installed? If so, I can post that. I picked up the vehicle on 12/13/10 if that helps. Perhaps the issue could be the firmware on the iPhone? I'm JB running 4.0.1.

does anyone know if the bluetooth audio is just a software difference between 2011 and 2010 and if its possible to get it added to the 2010?
Just curious.

I have an iPhone 3GS and do not have to authorize each time for Bluetooth audio. I simply followed the instructions for pairing the phone to Bluetooth. BT audio streaming was automatically enabled and has remained so since new. I would delete all Bluetoth devices from COMMAND and then re-pair the phone only and see what happens. Could be that your second pairing for the audio device is the cause.

Alright guys I'll do my best at this... (BT=Bluetooth)
-End Call + # + 1: opens Engineering Mode
- HU Settings
- HU Parameter
(the following are the settings I put them in)
(1) BT contact plate: Not Installed
(2) LCT: Installed
(3) BT audio: On
(4) Audio Aux: Off (greyed out: not an option)
(5) Video Aux: Off
(6) Navi: installed
(7) BT: on
-back buttonx2
-pull command wheel down
- system reset
- reset - yes
- go to audio, then go to the audio tab again to bring up the drop down menu of audio options, select BT audio and activating audio device comes up, then the audio streaming screen
I have included screen shots of all the important steps (sorry for the poor quality but it was night time and the flash on my phone kept going off) Let me know if I need to clairfy ne thing.

Cool. Have you checked to see if the 'boost' function is also available on non blue tooth sources!?! If so I will be 'flying' up to my dealer for the software update as I do not have blue tooth working in my 2011. Don't really care as I have an Ipod in glove box, but the 'boost' option for other source is HUGE. Unfortunatately I have a feeling it is only for blue tooth. Let us know please!!

Yes. In addition, I set my bass to 100% and treble to 75% in the COMMAND with pro-logic. The awesome thing is you can get even better sound with bluetooth audio by choosing the boost feature. So get the iphone 4 then :-)
