I'm sure you will love the e550. I've had mine for three weeks now and am enjoying it. It is a well balanced vehicle, well made with great features. My only knocks at this time are the seats, which could be more comfortable(Mercedes has always had an issue in this area although I like the massage and cornering bolsters of the driver dynamic seat) and better bass response on the stereo. I guess you can't have it all. Did you get the sport or luxury? Regards. Ned.
Sport. I think the car looks much better with AMG styling..
Best,
Dave

I have the sport as well. I was concerned about having 18 inch rims on the crappy NY metro roads but never had a chance to test drive the luxury model. So far so good. The ride is actually very civilized in both the sport or comfort mode. Still concerned about those potholes. Did you get a chance to try a luxury e550? I have always felt that the move to bigger and bigger rims was a little crazy. I remember when 17 inch rims were considered big. Regards. Ned.

I agree Ned. The larger wheels are nice looking and help the car handle better at the limits (which is of no importance to me), but the look comes with a price - namely a sharper ride and, because of low profile, they are more prone to tire and rim damage. I have 19's on my current car and took them off last month for winter. The ride with the 18s is much smoother. I can't imagine what the ride must be like with the folks who slap 22 inch rims on their vehicles simply to fill out the wheel wells and look cool!! MB's suspension generally soaks up the road imperfections pretty well, much better than BMW

Not to bore with the personal reasons, but I am giving thought to selling my 2011 E550. Very nicely equiped, 3200 miles never exposed to harsh winter conditions, never wrecked, scratched, etc. A beautiful (but expensive) third car. I dont want to mess with a dealer on this and would list it on this forum and autotrader I guess. Just giving you guys a heads up. Thanks.
