Silver Door Pins
Hey guys:
Moving on to the next installment of "What else can I do". Looking into putting Sliver Door Pins in. Anybody do it yet? Thoughts? Comments?
Thanks in advance.

B, I think I sent you an accessory catalog, check it out there are pins in there. You can order them from parts.com and save some doe. I also heard they were a little tricky to put on but I also heard if you get OEM they will install them at your next service (possibly for free), btw there are a number of threads on door pins and how to install, I think the OEM ones are expensive.

Ordered mine (looks like they will match my valve stem caps). I'm off to the Caribbean, so I will post results with pictures when I get back.

It's an after market module that electronically attaches to your accelerator and eliminates the horrible accelerator lag in these cars. There is a separate section of the forum devoted to this...

Much needed improvement and need to do something with mine as well. The plastic ones look so cheap. Post up some pictures once you complete the install and any issues on the installation.

Silver Pins Installed
Just got back from the Bahamas and my Silver Pins Arrived from Taiwan.
Installation went pretty smooth. They look much better than the ugly stock door pins (IMO) and I found ones that match the after market valve stems I purchased a while ago.
The front door pins unscrew counter clockwise (you will need pliers). The replacement pins simply screw back on. Unfortonatley the adhesive on the chrome caps didnt stick too well so (the Mercedes purist's will be mad at me) I used a bead of super glue and they then stuck fine to the door frame.
The back pins have to be lifted straight off. It took a leap of faith to pull those suckers off, but it revealed a ball headed joint in which the new pins fit into. It amazes me why Mercedes doesnt design both the front and door pins the same. Next, you have to push hard on the door rod to sead the new pins. I believe I heard it pop twice to get them to the correct height (this time, I had to use a dab of super glue on the inside of the door pin to set these in place).
All are flush to the door frame and look OEM
All in all...a really nice upgrade for a wopping 29.00!!!

The chrome rings fit right on top of the black / stock rings. I tried removing the stocks ones first, but felt a little uneasy about the amount of pressure I was having to apply, so I went the easy route and just placed the new ones on top of the original ones.

Philly, welcome back! Looks great and thanks for the write-up. Going to have to add this to my ever growing list of wants. I just wished this snow would quit so I can get started (I hate working on the car in this weather)

Sweet, nice little touch. I wonder if they'd have a brushed aluminum option as well (and how that would even look). I'd probably grab some if I wasn't too lazy. The door pins on these are really cheap. My W211 had the nice golf-tee ones with the chrome tip indent. I don't notice the stockers enough to bother me right now I guess, but if I ever come around some of those pins physically somewhere, I'd probably grab some for the hell of it.
I thought I'd read that cars (or M-B at least) moved to the current pins (over the previous golf-tee's) due to safety reasons. I have no idea what that's about though.
