Clear and Smoked Bumper Light fitment

I tried out a couple of clear and smoked bumper lights today, and they all seemed to be a little bit loose, is this the case with everyone's?

If you are talking about the side marker lights (replacing the orange), mine were extremely snug. Had to force them in, but they are a tight fit. All A-O-K

I swear by mine. Bought em off ebay (but I forget which vendor)...sorry.

Here are helpful DIY instructions posted awhile back from "doctordel".

1) turn the steering wheel to the opposite side your are working on
2) pull the front fender liner from the fender with a good yank; make sure you don't lose the fastener that pops out
3) turn the bulb socket counterclockwise and pull the bulb and socket out from the inside of the lens
4) use your fingers to pull out on the rearmost side of the lens and-once it is free from the fender-pull backwards towards the rear of the car to free the front of the lens from the bracket inside the fender
5) reverse the process with new lens and then reinstall the plastic fastener that popped out.

The hardest part of the whole process was aligning the replacement marker with the box housing behind the fender. You have to do it by feel because you cant see where you are connecting the two pieces. On complexity scale I'd give it a 3 out 10. Pretty simple. It should take you about 20 minutes to do both. Good luck.

Just my opinion, but get the stock ones painted body color to match look best.

I have the smoked they are a little loose but ok, did you paint yours yourself or did you have them done?

Got the markers done at HMS in Westminster when they did all the other mods. Left the car there for a few days right after purchasing it so they could do the work.

Might be a better idea to paint the aftermarket smoked or clear sidemarkers instead. My sidemarkers light up the amber color when lit even thru the paint.

On the front edge lip where it grabs the plastic of the bumper, mine wouldn't slide in they were too tight. Had to use a drennel to open the gap up on the lenses to fit the thickness of the plastic of the bumper, now they are snug. Got mine off ebay.

yes, mine were just a TAD off.........used some a sticky substance to keep them in a bit better, but still need to nudge them a little every couple of days...........

Real good solution if they are a little loose (mine are super snug) is to go to Home Depot, buy a small tube of clear silicon, place a small bead around the side marker and put it back in place. Make sure you have a damp soft cloth to wipe off any excessive residue on the body. Good luck.

mine were extremely tight, so I even had to sand it down a little.

In the end, I just ended up having the stock one's painted... perfect fitment, and exact color I wanted. Kinda got lucky that it was super inexpensive since I was doing other work as well.

For those who painted the current markers how well does the signal light shine though or did you use a special paint?

+2.

For those of you who aren't going the clear route (obviously you have to buy those aftermarket), I strongly recommend just tinting/wrapping/painting the stock ones. I don't see the point in spending more on an aftermarket unit who's fit is un-superior to the originals, when you are getting a simply tinted pair.

Light shines through just fine on mine, and still remains amber to boot. Not sure what type of paint the shop used tho.

FYI on mine. I had them vinyl wrapped, and NO light shines through. Just a little amber glowing around the edges, which looks decent on its own IMO.
