The only problem with your badge is that it does not fit well with the W212 hood. The crease in the middle of the hood prevents it from being flush with the paint. Also, if you take it off, you will find the plastic has cut into the paint on the hood.
I know this because I tried the same thing.
I went with DFW Dude's badge and now all is good. No damage with it.

I've got a perfect fit badge that I never used that I would be willing to sell if anyone who wants it PM me ($20). I researched these extensively and this is one of the best, I laid in on the hood it fits perfectly in the hole. Could ship it by mail for $5 additional.

I'd jump on that if I wanted a flat badge!
Don't half a$$ it with the C badge. The E's hood is more contoured with a more prominent crease, which will have the C badge sitting unbecomingly non-flush (you can even notice it a bit in that pic provided above). You'll also save from hood scratches (around the ring, as has been said), and water/dirt getting swept up into that area.
