LoMo M1 ELM install

5 Attachment(s)
Well I lied when I said that I wasn’t going to lower my car. :D

I didn’t like the negatives that come with driving a lowed E-class but my car just didn’t look right with the wheel gap.
I will upgrade to thicker tires to better fill the gap but for now I went with an ELM.

I didn’t find any installs of Lomo M1 on the W212 on this forum so I’ll try to make this a detailed post. When I spoke to Ken he assured me that they have sold M1s for the W212 so I am not the first. Or maybe he just said that… lol j/k Ken.

I went with LoMo M1 because it fits with how I plan to use an ELM.
Here are the pics
The pics don’t show the gap that well. (I should have turned on the camera flash)

Install was easy. It took me 1.5hrs; A couple mistakes in the instruction slowed me down so it probably would have taken me only an hour.
Just like the Nav you can’t change any settings if your car is moving.
You have a range of -8 to +8 front and rear and Module on or off.
When ordering you can select what speed you would like the system to go back to stock. Default is 40mph. I asked for 35mph
If you would later like to change that speed you will have to send the module in and pay for shipping or drive to Phoenix. This is the only negative to the M1 IMO.

Module Off/ Stock height:

https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...1&d=1299815446

Highest Setting (+8 Front, +8 Rear):

https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...1&d=1299815564

The rear has a wide range. I didn’t measure the height but it looked like a 9” gap.
The front might have been about 5-6”

Lowest Setting (-8 Front, -8 Rear):

https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...1&d=1299815446

The rear gets slammed while the front looks about two inches higher than the rear.
I was surprised to find that I was able to drive like this with no rubbing in the rear. However I scuffed my front right rim on the inner fender. :smash:
-6 in sport mode is the lowest I can go in the front without rubbing.

My Choice (-6 Front, -4 Rear):

https://mbworld.org/forums/attachmen...1&d=1299815446

In Comfort mode when I am driving and I will hit sport mode when I park for the look that I like. :naughty:
Excuse the dirty car I just wanted to take pictures of the LoMo. :D

Are you able to set the stock height at 100+ or so?

DefKhan1 03-11-2011 12:22 AM

WOW. How much did that run you, if you don't mind me asking?

I have mine set to go back at 35mph so it will already be at stock height at 100mph.

Was thinking about doing the install myself as well, not sure yet. How easy or difficult was the pin swapping?

hyperion667 03-11-2011 06:53 AM

wow 78 degrees @ 5:15!

Looks awesome. :y

Definitely needed the drop and I agree with your choice in ride height. Perfect drop.

clmulli 03-11-2011 12:05 PM

I'm loving the -8" drop. Looks good.

Tjd,

I have an E350, so no real knowledge on the airmatic system. You mention you have the system system set to go to normal height at 35 mph. I take it you mean that if we were to see you at highway speeds, your car would be at the normal factory height and the lowered appearance would be while the car is parked or at speeds up to 34 mph. Is my understanding correct? Is the speed/height adjustment user-defined, ie, you could have the car always at the lower setting, or it raises at 10, 20, 30 mph, or whatever you set?

Looks good and enjoy the Vegas heat!!

100% Correct. Thats why I didnt go with links or STAR to lower the car.

It is, however it can only be done with some special tool that costs $$$$$. I don’t know what this tool is but when you order you can either leave the speed at default (40mph) or ask them to change it before it ships. If you would like to change the speed after install you would have to remove it and send it out to be changed or drive to someone who has that tool.
I almost didn’t but the M1 because of this. I think there might be times when I would like it not to turn off automatically, and I didn’t want to set the speed high because I didn’t want to go through the menu to turn it off when I jump on the highway every time.

golfster 03-11-2011 06:20 PM

It looks very cool the way it is and it is likewise great that you have the ability to make adjustments without being limited to changing springs to do so.

DNAPoPo 03-11-2011 06:33 PM

How difficult was install?

Very easy. The Airmatic Control unit is easy to access. They recommended a pin removal tool but it’s not needed, a simple jeweler’s flat head screwdriver did the trick.

Car looks awesome. A+++ Nice Job!

I'm happy you like the M1. Ken is a great guy. I work with him directly on many things, one being the M1 Lomo. I was able to get a sale going for this. If you visit our sister site loweringmodule.com we have a sale going on to MBW members. When checking out use promo code MBH-2011 (case sensitive). you will receive a special MBW discount on the M1 ELM.

Here is a video of how it works on my SL55

That's sick!!! Nice work...really wish I could afford a 550 for the air suspension alone. Congrats and enjoy!

How has the module been treating u? Also, any issues with the dealer when doing the your service?

Good so far, I don't use it much because I only bought the ELM for my viewing pleasure and not to drive around with a lowered car.
Apparently another member here had an issue with the airmatic displaying errors when driving with it. I have seen the same error before but I don't often see it because I don't drive with the ELM on that often and it doesn't happen all the time.
I notified the distributer and the issue still has not been fixed.

Based on that I would NOT recommend this system to anyone for daily use until LoMo fixes it. It works perfectly and its perfect for me and the way I intended to use it however it seems that it has intermittent issues with the W212. (or maybe all ELMs are this way) :nix:

As for issues with dealers. I have not been in for service yet, however the install is completely stealth.

Can you adjust either the right side or left side with the LOMO M1? Or is it just the front and rear.

Offtwice 03-28-2013 11:50 AM

Air suspension on e350?

Does the electronic air suspension only come on the 550?

Only front and rear.

It was standard for the E550, since 2012 it has been optional.
