Just get the factory stuff. Non Metallic cost me $19 from the Dealer, without even shopping around. Metallic is probably $5-$10 more.

Ouch!!! My dealer's parts counter charged me $10 for the non-metalic black I needed.

A lot of people recommend Dr Colorchip (I have not used the product). It is a complete paint touchup kit. I checked and they do offer #755 Steel Grey. Their site is www.drcolorchip.com It is almost impossible to just use touch up paint and not have it show as a blob.

It makes no difference where you get the paint from as long as it is a reputable source. Do you think MB manufactures the paint they use on their vehicles. No! Do you think the paint is not available from the manufacturer to other sources. The key to kits like Dr Colorchip is that they offer a process not just the paint. I can guarantee you if you go to the dealer and get OEM touch up paint and dab it on the chip you will end up with an OEM blob. It's not the source of the paint that will give you the best results it's the application process.

Very good point!!! Some people think the paint goes through a transformation process when it's put into the little vial with the Mercedes marque on it, and of course willing to fork out 100% mark up. lol

Actually it does go through a transformation process being in the Mercedes vial. It goes from being a $3.99 touch-up paint to a $20 touch-up paint.

I use my rip-off Dealer purchased touch-up paint on the little chips I might get on areas that are hard to see, or easy to fill. On anything that may ever be more visible or extensive than that (hopefully not!!), I might get Dr. Colorchip. I like how you can slather it everywhere, and easily wipe it off. With the OEM touch-up, you have to be really careful not to get it around the actual area of repair, or else it'll be a PITA.

Preference i suppose. I've had bad luck with color matching and am a little gunshy now when it comes to it. I would go to the OEM just becasue I know it WILL match and if it doesnt I can throw a fit and, seeing its an OEM product, the dealership should have to "eat" the problem.

Regarding the issues of paint blobs, just a drop or two of paint thinner and its resolved

I would use a professional to do the touch up. Like the OP said it's not an 02 Kia.
