Does anyone else have any problems closing their gas door? I always have to try to close it over and over for it to finally catch... click-clack, click-clack, click-clack.... i look like a fool at the gas-station.

Gas door
Push in the little pop out piece on the left hand side before you close your door. Door closes right up and you do not have to push on your door. You should not have to do this if the piece works properly. Have it checked out when in for service.

I had to the same issue. If you lock your door while pumping gas and afterwards try to close the gas door, it will not close. You have to unlock your door to close the gas door. I assume while driving when your doors are lock your gas door is locked as well. Seems to be a gas door safety feature lol. Try it out.

Had to take mine in recently because the door just wouldnt shut.(kept popping back open). They had to change some part .It seemed like the magnet or whatever device holds the door shut needed to be replaced.

I've had this problem. It is from the cord holding the gas cap getting in the wrong position and keeping the door open. I found if you manually move the cord into the right position it will close. Over time the cord gets more flexible and the problem goes away. But until then it is a pain.

I always felt that my gas cap would not close, or close properly, the car 4 months old 2011 E350.
Showed my salesman he agreed as he played with the gas cap. Service Manager came by and told us that we need to open or close push softly near the end center. I, by habit, would push end top. It works.
Drove away feeling a little stupid, then realized that the salesman (who has a coupe) agreed with me - how come he doesn't have a problem with his car?

I vaguely remember seeing a bulleting about this floating around on the board. Either try searching for the bulleting number of just take it to the dealer and they should be able to take care of it under warranty. This issue has been meantioned on this board before and if I remember correctly people have been able to get this issue fixed successfully via their dealers.

There is not really an issue here, well , there is but nothing serious.
I also think that an issue like this should NOT occur on a car with this caliber.
The fuel door easily can be kept cracked open by that plastic cord attache to the cap. To make this to be no problem you need to rotate the cord holer ring around filler hole so that the cord does not push door open.
This is not hard to do but, as I mentioned, this caliber car should not have an issue like this.
