This one is odd...I recently had the command software update and have the BT audio functioning flawlessly don't have the climate controls displayed on screen.

Do I need to turn this on somewhere in the engineering menu?

So in another Thread someone mentioned that their Dealers said that 2010 Commands are not compatible with this update, only early 2011's? Doesn't seem to make sense since I assume they are identical units.

For my 2010 E350, I took a look at my engineering menu screens to see if I could enable the Climate Info.

I found on screen 3.1 Navi Core information (2/3) the (f) DSP FW Ver.:20100705D39A entry. I didn't find anything matching the information above.

I also didn't find anything that looked like changing it would enable the climate control display.

Has anyone with a 2010 E350 gotten this to work or is it just for the 2011's?

Try to change the temperature, mode or fan speed level. While changing it , the climate control screen will be displayed on the bottom of the COMMAND screen. After few seconds, it will dissapear again until you change the climate settings again.

LOL. Following your instructions, it works just fine. I'm just thinking too much (for a weekend) ...

Doh !!! (in my best Homer Simpson voice).

Works just fine when I change settings. Thought it was suppose to be on all the time.

A couple more lame questions for you guys:

Can anyone post pictures of how the screen looks, when on "Radio" mode, and even the Map screen??

Also, if I take my car in, is this like a quick "plug in and play" type of deal, or do they actualy have to install something in the car (i.e, is it something that I can just get done in a few minutes then leave).

Thanks.

Will have to defer to someone else for the pictures but the update takes ~4 hours to do. My SM told me that they can't select specific updates as it re-writes code for all modules.

I'll try to take some pictures when I return home. As for the time it take to do the update it varies greatly. A whole successful update takes about an hour to do. My update went through on the first try without any issues. There are updates that take two-three tries to go through. Getting the update on the car is easy, the updates usually fail during the automated verification process. Just plan on leaving your car at the dealer for the day whenever you decide to go ahead and get it done.

Ah, thanks. Looks like I'll just wait until my first Service in June-July to get it done, which kinda sucks.

If you could post pics that would be very appreciated!

My dealer says the CD update is available, but I cannot get it done unless I am having a problem with my COMAND system.
Any more information on how to get the update under warranty?
Thanks!

Since I don't use BT and don't have a demonstrable problem with Navi system, not sure I can get it done just to get the Climate Control displayed on the screen. Not sure it is worthwhile since still have to use the buttons at bottom of center stack.
Is there any improvement in readability of street names? Mine are a little too small for me so I have to lean toward the screen sometimes.
I have noted that the voice commands sometimes give incorrect information as to where to turn. These are not new streets/roads. Would an update correct this?

Anything starting with "intermittent" should do the trick. Intermittent issues with blue tooth pairing of phone. Intermittent problems with voice command - sounds like a real issue. Ask to speak with the SM instead of the advisor.

I had no issues getting mine updated after explaining the issue - strictly BT audio - and showing them the service sheet above. YRMV

Maybe I'm spoiled because my car was delivered with the software that shows the climate control details on the screen, but this isn't something I'd go out of my way to have enabled. I usually notice that it has flashed up on the command screen but I never really look at it.

As promised K-A here are some pictures I snapped this morning before dropping my car off at the train station.

nav01.jpg - notice how on the lower left corner the unit of measurement is 1/2mi as opposed to 0.5mi. Also there are much more icons on the screen denoting mild traffic, gas stations, the soccer arena, train tracks and various other things that are nearby.

nav02.jpg - takes from same spot as first picture but zoomed in more. The unit of measurement is now 1/4mi.

nav03.jpg - the unit of measurement in now 2mil. You can see the icon for Newark airport. So far I've only seen airplanes indicating airports but in this shot there is also a control tower. Also note the traffic severity icons denoted by the yellow and red cars. These icons are smaller then what my previous update had giving a more smoother, cohesive look to the screen when looking at it.

nav04.jpg - same as first image but I didn't have it in full screen mode.

sirius01.jpg - since you requested a screen shot of the radio I took this one for you. Nothing has changed on this screen.

I took these pix with my iPhone and they have an original size of 2592x1936. Since the board software only allows 800x600 I had to shrink them down. If needed I can put the originals up somewhere else but you can still see the important bits here. Also it was 6:30am when I took them and it was still dark outside so the map is displaying everything in night mode.

Thank you so much man!! Very helpful. Just wanted to see what I was missing out on for now.

So looks like graphic quality doesn't change at all for the Radio function?

I like the extra goodies on the Map as well! I guess I'll just wait a few months and make sure to get it done during my first Service.

Your welcome. I guess the BlueTooth update is the big enchilada in this update and since I don't use BT to stream music this update was not such a big deal for me. It's kinda nice to be able to see the AC settings on the screen and the minor graphics improvement is nice also but I would definitely not go out of my way to get it done. Take your time, by the time your Service A rolls around there mint even be a newer update available.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking as well. I usually just have it on the Radio or CD portion, so I guess I wouldn't really notice it anyway. It seems like from Philly's post, there's an added little graphic in the CD section, but it seems as though the Radio section is untouched, although I can't tell if there was a minor graphic improvement in that as well.

I was also curious about BT streaming, but I don't stream music via BT myself either.

I had problems with the Comand. I noticed that the AM radio turns to be SW, then no sat radio and Nav maps were changed. At MB they tried to update the Comand but to no avail. After all, a new Comand were installed and now I have the new BT audio, Climate screen, better graphics on Nav and also when the lights and fog are on all four round light on the lower bumber turns on.

You should see it during rush hour. I leave my house at 6am and get to the train station (13 miles away) in about 20-25 minutes. If I leave with the morning rush that 13 mile drive can take anywhere from 45 minutes to an hour. We have way too many cars than what the roads can handle here...

Four Round lights

"when the lights and fog are on all four round light on the lower bumber turns on."[/quote]
Two of the round lights are DRL's and two are fog. On my 2010, the DRL's go off if the main lights are on.
Are you saying that with the update, you can turn on the main lights, the DRL's and the fog lights at the same time?
From what I have read so far, not sure the update would benefit me enough for the 60 mile round trip and several hours to get it done. I think having all four round lights on at same time would be neat though. On my car, I have to turn on the main lights and then pull out the switch to enable the fog lights.
