Top speed?
This car seems pretty fast, and its a shame its governed at 130. Are the 350's governed in europe as well? I think I saw a few threads or youtube videos that suggested they were. What do you think the top speed is of this car without limitations?

I don't know if E 350 is coverned in Germany or not but my very well educated guess is that it is not. A simple reason is that if a BMW 320 Diesel can go 150 mph I don't think Mercedes can afford a "C-class" car to be faster than ane E-class.
I think E 350 easily goes 150 mph and beyond if allowed to do so.

So governed limits on vehicles are based by on tire performance? I guess this would answer why some vehicles in the US are governed when others are not.
Based upon how the car pulls so quickly to 120-130mph I agree the car probably tops out at about 160.

I got to 240 kph in a E300 Cabriolet on the autobahn before I had to slow down. My guess is that the 350 will do at least that much or more. I'll be over there in a couple of weeks. If I rent a E350 and have the right road conditions, I'll let you know.

Will do. Also, I have never noticed a governer on any of the cars I have driven over there. Only the rev limiter which I have never hit in top gear. Seems you always run out of road before you run out of car. Usually because of traffic.

Well. . .
Been over here, Germany, for about 10 days now but no joy on testing top speed on the E350. Had to rent a Volvo XC60 AWD with the Diesel. Now I gotta say it handled the autobahn at top speed (appx 220 kph) quote well but it was not the same thrill I was looking for. It's a great ride loaded with everything but not built to park in Europe. Pretty quick and outstanding fuel economy especially given the way I am driving it.
I'll have to try for the E when I am back here again in May. I did learn that they are governed electronically at 250 kph from the factory. However, there are lots of places where the limit can be reprogramed, so I am told.
