TPS Warning

I was cruising at 75 on a busy expressway today with exits about 8 miles apart. The car was handleing fine...then the Gauge turns to Red with an audible "ding" and the TPS indicator shows my psi shot down to 20 on my rear tire. Sure enough I have a 3+ inch gash in my tire caused by a piece of metal debris. Long story short...because of the warning I was able to get off at an exit and get the tire changed (to the very fashionable space saver) with out the fear of getting creamed on the Expressway. Sounds small...but it was huge for me. Glad these things work!

What is that in your tire-- some kind of piece of metal?

That black/yellow stripe wheel is super cool. Must be very expensive, judging from the aerodynamic side. That's the best AMG wheel in MB. Buy three more and you will be he king of the road. I had the the honor to use this and my friends in the office gave me lots of compliment. I could not handle the pressure and therefore, I went back to the normal wheel. Are you going to change the avatar? :-)

Sorry to hear about your incident. I pulled my space saver tire from the trunk the other day to check the air pressure, which was only 48 lbs. After looking at that bold yellow stripe with all the writing, I said to myself, "Pray you never have to use that."
I might say that now I've actually seen it on a car, it appears quite fashionable. (LOL)
BPhillyBenz, thanks for sharing the pic.
Did you purchase tire and rim insurance? I had a slow leak from puncture on the edge of the tire, no way to fix, dealer replaced with no charge.

Against the recommendation of my SA, I didnt get the tire and wheel insurance. Oh well, new tire and mounting cost $268.07 (but I got a free car wash out of it)

This was my first experience with the lower profile tires and 18's and did not want to get blindsided by any problems with the tires and especially the wheels since NJ is very well known for it's excellent roads(Ha-Ha). I suppose it's like all insurance, it's there if you need it.

Glad to hear it worked out bud. Not a very pleasant experience to have a tire get compromised on the Highway!

These tires are EXPENSIVE!! I wonder how much cheaper one could possibly find them if really shopped around for.

Wow. Good thing the warning saved ya. Looks like a nasty chunk of metal and losing a tire at higher speeds can be pretty dangerous.

I actually drive with my tire pressure showing at all times. Only thing im worried about while driving are potholes and the leaksdamage that can be caused by them.

Actually NTB can order them for 190.00, but they wouldnt get them in until Monday. My band played last night and didnt want to show up looking like a shlub...so I went to the dealer and got it replaced immediatley. Attached are some pics of my other toys.

Daamn!! A man with good taste!! A music aficionado as well I see. I hear what you're saying. You'd probably go from "Did you see that rockstar pull up in his sweet Benz"?? To: "Did you see that guy who can't afford wheels to put on that Benz he's probably living in?" Gotta love the spare tires.

Bleh.

I just hit a pothole in Los Angeles driving locally and watched my TPS drop 2 points right after hitting the pothole. Watched the red warning pop up and started pulling into a parking lot when the pressure dropped from 32 to 15 in a matter of 30 seconds. Got out of the car and could hear the air leaking out of my front wheel.

My 4th time hitting a substantial pothole... my 1st flat.

What a pain in the ***...

Wheels look fine. Hope nothing turns up when they change out the tire.

Had these tires for less than 1.5k miles too. Anyways gonna replace tomorrow for $200.00.

Just a pain in the *** and driving around on the yellow donut sucks too lol.

I can attest. I felt like Mr. Doofus driving around with that thang on. I swear they make it intentionally fugly so you have no choice but to change it out REAL quick. Go for a drive down Sunset Strip tonight...I dare you...

A friend of mine since childhood plays a custom Frank Harlow. He played on two IBMA album of the year award winners and SBGMA album of the year (bluegrass). I don't see many Dobros, but remember him trying to teach me to play back in third grade.

Failed to comment on your man-cave... Wish I had one...

Have 2 lil kids running around and hard to keep anything untouched by the young ones. Guess my man-cave is my 212 and my local pub...
