wiring radar detector

Does anyone know an easy way to get a power cord from the fusebox, probably the one in the engine compartment, through the firewall to the far left side of the dashboard for a radar detector? It all looks sealed up pretty tight under the dash. Is there a panel that opens up on the side of the dash that is up against the door? Thx

Search function is your friend. There are several "how to's" posted with pictures tapping into to mirror / embrace module. Others run into the power port inside the glove box.

I use outlet in the glove box. I purchased a power cord that is not that wound "phone cord" and run it from the side of the glove box to the corner of the windshield and run the cord at the bottom of the windshield across to left side. The cord sinks in in the gap between dash and windshield and you cannot even see it other than the end where it comes up to the detector.

Is that outlet always "hot"? Is that why you use it?

No, it is hot only when your car is "hot". It turns off when I turn car off and exit. It turns back on when I turn car back on. That is why I use it. And it was the easiest way to set it up.
