DIY Questions
Searched here and in the diesel forum for a DIY section...couldn't find one,so....I'm thinking about doing every other oil change myself (even though my Orthopedic Surgeon has told me not to) and was wondering how one removed the engine cover to get at the filter.Also,is it possible to somehow fool the automatic headlights into thinking it's always daylight (when the switch is at "A") so that the lights don't come on in a tunnel or garage? I'm annoyed that there's no option for "manual" because I'm capable of turning on my own lights.Anyone with hints...or a link to a website? TIA!

I haven't removed the entire engine cover on my 2011 Bluetec, but I have loosened the rear portion. There are two large poles at the rear. You can see them with a mirror. You can also see or feel two plastic pieces that connected the rear engine cover to these large poles. Easiest way to find the plastic pieces is follow the gray "V" to the rear. The plastic pieces are about one inch in from the cover. Pulling, using medium pressure, on the plastic pieces will unsnap the rear engine cover from the poles. Reconnect the rear cover by pushing down and they will snap back in place. Tried to find similar pieces on the front, but I don't have a clear enough view to locate the front holders.
