strange electronic noise, hours after engine shutoff
car is at the dealer now and they're response was "we can't hear it" followed up by "its normal".
this video was about four hours after putting the car in the garage. the voltage regulator was replaced about six weeks back. noise was first noticed last week (when I decided to take to video to document and its been like this every night since parking. by morning, there's nothing.
about 15 seconds apart...sounds like a capacitor discharge followed by the sound of the system recharging (like shock paddles after discharge). you can hear the discharge clearing but the mic on the iPhone didn't pick up the recharge portion well.
normal?? if not...thoughts? bad coil pack?

You know I work at the dealer and my 2008, 2010, and 2011 E 350s all do this. We had it on the rack all day and it did it a few times but no one seems to know what it is or what causes it. But I've had 3 E350 and 2 clients in GLKs that do it too. Unfortunately i'm gonna have to say its normal. It doesnt seem to have any effect or drain the battery. I actually had a neighbor tell me something was on in my garage. lol.

that makes me feel a little better. I have never noticed it before and Ive had the car almost a year. the thing that bothered me was the fact that the voltage regulator was replaced a bit ago and then noticing this noise

My 2011 E350 does it. My Volvo S80 did it too. My dughters Hyundai Elantra touring does it too. Never gave it much thought and have never had a problem with any car that does it. Maybe you are spending too much time in your garage?

Hey you're not the only one my 2010 E350 did it and I though it was just the headlamp motors...lol but never notice any problems.

My 2010 E550 makes that noise. Has done that since I bought it in Dec 2009.
Airmatic also makes noises, sounds like snorting and air escaping, when car is off. It seems like the car is alive!
I think it is normal.
