The Mercedes-Benz E-Class is recalled 04/11/2011
German car company Mercedes-Benz recently announced that it would be recalling 41 of its 2011 E-Class vehicles. The reason for the requested return is due to a car piece that could be launched out of the engine when the motor is in use, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported. The government agency claimed that the substance that holds the vibration damper and its inner mass damper ring could become separated.
"While working in the engine compartment during engine operation, the damper ring could strike and injure the person repairing the vehicle or a bystander," the NHTSA said.
However, the auto firm said that there have been no complaints, accidents or injuries related to the defective car part, according to Edmunds Inside Line.
The recall will take place later this month and consumers who believe they have an affected vehicle can take their car to be examined by a Mercedes-Benz dealer.
In addition, the automaker recently recalled more than 136,000 of its M-Class and M-Class AMG units due to a problem with the cruise control.
