Samsung Galaxy Phone / Bluetooth Questions

My wife and I have the Samsung Galaxy phone w/ Verizon that worked perfectly with the bluetooth on my 2011 W212 and her 2011 Honda Pilot.

We did a software update on our Samsung Galaxy phones and now the phones are not working as perfectly as they did before.

Is this a Samsung issue or MB/Honda issue? How can we resolve this?

Thanks in advance.

I would delete the phones off the cars and then try to resync them, I have had that problem with firmware updates on my phones as well. Usually after they pair again, things go back to normal.

We have 2011 GL350 and my wife's Samsung Galaxy didn't sync with bluetooth. In fact, it synced only once (we tried all kinds of ways for 3 days) but after that it never synced again.

Recently, called Verizon and their tech said Samsung Galaxy bluetooth version is newer than our GL (forgot the numbers...)

so, basically, they were blaming MB for this issue.

Ya I even tried deleting the bluetooth connection and setting up a new connection.

The syncing is not a problem.

It has something to do with the mic/speaker and not being able to hear / speak loud enough...

There's a bulletin (see stickies above) about this -- something about a COMAND update. Maybe the upgrade triggered whatever COMAND problem there might be.

Nice find. Will try to get the software updated at MB and post results.

Just figured out my problem I was having with my phone in the posts above.

After updating the phone's software with the latest update, people had a hard time hearing me and I had a hard time hearing other people via the bluetooth connection in my car.

There is a phone option setting that can adjust speaking volume and hearing volume. They are preset at zero and worked fine with the pre updated phone. I just changed the setting to 1 and now both work fine.

Thanks again for the help.

I have just changed my old Samsung phone for a Samsung Galaxy Ace, and although it pairs OK and will dial numbers from the phonebook I previously copied to the MB Audio, the microphone and speakers are not connected, the call has to be taken via the handset (even though the audio mutes the stereo during the call). Are there updates available for the MB Bluetooth system?

Funny this thread comes back from the dead today...

I haven't used the bluetooth on my Samsung Galaxy for about 7-8 months now since having the problem.

Did a software update on my phone available thru options cuz the phone started going whack the past couple of weeks. Tried using the bluetooth today and the one call I made seemed to work fine.

Just dropped off my car to the dealer today to do Service A and asked them for the command update to allow for BT Streaming as well as the previous Bluetooth Speaker/Mic problem.

Will post results when I get my car back.

The problem is with the Samsung... as is typical of of Android device manufacturers, they release first and let the customer debug it for them. I am a Mercedes Systems technical support person, and my life would be a lot easier if they would pay more attention to quality BEFORE they ship, rather than the focus of taking Apple market share.
There are already updates out for that phone, and I understand more to come, to fix a variety of problems, including the Bluetooth stack (as you found it does not work very well).

Samsung Bluetooth problems

Thanks for the replies - sounds like I will have to wait for an update to the phone's bluetooth software, as this appears to have fixed it for one person, and the other confirms that it is a Samsung issue, not Mercedes. Maybe I should have gone for an iPhone!

In all seriousness though, both Android and Apple have issues with sticking to BT specs. Whatever you may think of Blackberry, they are the best at sticking to the BT standards and - accordingly - seem to work best with car BT devices.

Just got my car back from dealership with Service A completed.

They also checked command and supposedly upgraded the command software to correct BT Streaming and the problem with the phone and speaker/mic.

Tested the phone making a couple calls and all seems well.

Gave my service advisor these links to help them w/ their updates...

https://mbworld.org/forums/4545064-post4.html

https://mbworld.org/forums/e-class-w212/300769-bulletins-207-coupe-212-sedan.html

Anyone know whats the best way to check to see if I have the latest command software?

Pushed the buttons on my ac on my drive back and noticed the ac functions appeared on my screen. Not sure if this is new or if I never noticed it before...

^^ That means you got the upgraded Command (like my 2011 has). What Dealer did you go to? They are extremely competent because when I had my 2010, the Dealers I went to had no idea about that upgrade and couldn't apply it to my car, try as I did for it. There were also a lot of Threads a while back of people trying to get that same update to no avail from Dealers.

Beverly Hills MB.

Didn't have a specific SA and didn't want the one that helped me when I had my previous W211, so I asked the valet for the coolest guy.

Guys name is Jaime Sanchez.

I dropped the car off yesterday around noon and Jaime called me back around 4 saying that they couldn't find any updated command info/patches. I asked for his email and emailed him the two links above. He confirmed receipt of my emails this morning and told me he would take care of it.

Been a while since I got the service I expect when buying an MB.

I have now solved this problem - I have returned my Samsung Galaxy Ace, and now have an HTC Desire S that works perfectly with the Mercedes Bluetooth and Audio system. The phone is much better than the Samsung and also cheaper than an iPhone. Without this thread I wouldn't have known that this was a problem with the phone software, so thanks for your assistance.

MB Bluetooth

So after a few wasted hours, I figure out that you can answer from the stearing wheel, but not the phone directly or the dash. I guess I will need to make out-going calls from voice command or maybe someone smarter then me can figure out what to do.
