Porsche Macan S SportDesign / Ex M-B's: 11 & 10 & 06 E350's, 02 S500
I think I have been pretty fair and objective in regards to things I like and dislike about my E350. I also check the Bimmerfest forum and realize that the F10 also has its share of issues - as do all cars. When I had my E60 I think I was also pretty fair and objective about the pros and cons of that car - as well as the Acura and Mazda that are in my garage.![Smilie](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
Fact is, M-B Tex is highly regarded, and the best in the business, by a longshot. Anyone without BMW fanboy blinders, anyone would be able to admit that BMW's Leatherette suucks, and M-B's "Tex" is on another level. It's like Nappa VS E-Class non-Nappa Leather Option..
MB plastic seats are better than their plastic seats. I just find this funny.![Stick Out Tongue](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/tongue.gif)
Like I said, initially, I'll choose Leather over M-B Tex, if both cost the same, but after 3 years, when my interior looks immaculate, and the Leather interior looks 10 years old and stinks, I'll be happy I chose "plastic".
Quality leather seats will look fantastic in 10 years. Cheap leather seats will look crappy in 3 years.![thumbs](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/thumbsup.gif)
EDIT: I need help on how to correctly carry over multiple quotes on a reply post?? I would appreciate if someone could explain this to me. Thanks.

For Quote copying, just open up the other posts in a different browser, and copy and past them (with the "QUOTE" code bordering the posts and all) onto your current post.

Is this topic still going??? Really? Started out comparing a Hyundai against a MB. Now we are talking about seat coverings. I have a headache...lol Be proud of the car you drive, especially if it is a MB, you picked a great car no matter of model or year. Great quality and style, for years....

I don't get how it's funny.
Have you ever checked out and examined a plastic dash, or plastic buttons, etc. in car A VS car B? People talk all day long about "cheap plastics" VS "quality" plastics, and seats are no different. IMO, if you go from a BMW vinyl, to an M-B vinyl, the M-B will actually feel like real Leather in comparison, as it's that good of an imitation.

Hey, I laugh at The Three Stooges, Larry David, Bill Maher, and debates on what car offers the best plastic seats. Maybe I have a stange sense of humor.![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
It might be a big waste of time, but at least I learned something new - how to double quote in one post.

Just for the record there is a multi quote button staring at you at the bottom right (next to the quote reply button) in each message box. This is vBulletin forum software. Very simple, and no need to open up another browser window and cut and paste. Just click on the multi quote icon and you save up as many quotes as your heart desires, then hit the main quote button last......you can even turn the multi quote button on and off if you decide not to multi quote (it turns red when on.)

btw, brand loyalty is good and all but let's get real people.. there's a reason why MB resale values SUCK A$$. yes it has the three star emblem on the hood but reality is ***** breaks down in our cars. from 1998 - 2007 MB made some *****ty cars, no one can deny that. i'll probably never own another mercedes that's out of warranty.
everyone works hard for their dollar and can spend their $ on whatever they see fit, but as a customer, i welcome these advances and features hyundai is offering to their cars at great prices. it'll drive up the level of competition and force the "luxury brands" to step up their game, offer more features/performance for less dollar.

Be nice to have that go on cancer, diabetes, Alzheimer's, and other things. The priorities are insanity. At least Hyundai did something. MB just recently raised $1M for families in Alabama. At least corporate America and corporate Korea have their priorities straight!

The ONLY thing keeping me from getting a Camaro is that I need my second car to be a boring and efficient appliance, as it does lots of long miles.
I love two kinds of cars more than any other kinds of cars: A stylish and stately M-B, and an American Muscle-Car.

I saw a Vert recently too. Convertibles usually aren't my thing, but I gotta say, apparently the Camaro Vert is the only way you can get a Camaro with any visibility, and an interior ambiance that doesn't feel like it's swallowing you. ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I had a very quick thought about doing away with my Benz and going back to my raw Muscle-Car roots, and picking up the new 550 HP ZL1 (which would be a money savor in the long run), but I just can't let go of my refined and top-quality beauty. So I just gotta wait until I can get the ZL1 to accompany it I guess.![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
At the same time, I'd like to stay alive, and stay having a License, which a ZL1 can get in the way of.

Oh yeah, I'm a big product of the enabling influence of a motor. In my 268 HP E-Class, I cruise calmly, with enough power on tap if I want to have some fun, but not enough to get provoke me to have tooo much of that type of "fun".
If you see me in a Manual transmission Mustang, or AMG 55, I'm a maniac, who can't help but utilize that power. Plus, I'm a big fan of making use of the perks of a car that I pay for, and that isn't a good idea with that kind of fire under the hood.

Group buy? Mercedes owners for Camaro's as second cars? I wonder how much of a discount we can get if we get enough on board. ![Big Grin](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
I couldn't think of a more stark and better contrast, to keep things interesting.

It does offer a bit of modern nostalgia. And the contast in vehicles is good as driving either one for awhile builds appreciation for the other. Different types of vehicle, different types of enjoyment.

My following comments are probably already stated but I jumped into this thread late and did not read pages 2 - 5. In any event, I add the following:
Drive one of our cars, that is the MB, at 100+ MPH on the autobahn and you become a believer in the the difference between German engineering and everyone else. There simply is no comparison. Yes I know our speeds over here are not in the same world as Europe but, these cars are designed for highspeed driving, stopping, turning, emergency handling, and unfortunately and at times wrecking. This environment makes these cars safer and a joy to drive at any speed. Design engineers who live in the world of the Asian brands simply do not understand the differences. All you have to do is drive one to know the difference. Anybody who offers an opinion without driving one of these cars on the edge simply does not understand why the Germans engineers design in what they do. I know the folks in our MBworld know this and if you have ever driven in Europe you know first hand the heritage of the design.
It is all about form and function. Why do you think it took so long for them to build a decent cup holder. How do you drink a cup of coffee at 220 KPH? The answer is, you don't so there is not need. By the way, I am glad the figured this out.
I drove a 2005 Toyota Avalon before my E350. Beautiful car, very well made and extremely comfortable. However, it did not even hold a candle to the MB on so many levels, or any other high end German car. I have owned Nissans, Mazdas, and rented many other Asian brands. Not one of them come close to what Germany does.
Just my humble opinion.
