stolen toolkit from trunk

so... the W212 E350 sedan comes with a toolkit, right?
aside from the jack and tire iron for the spare (which sits on top of the spare)
there's a separate toolkit in the space next to the spare?

my dad says he specifically looked in the trunk after taking delivery of the car and remembers seeing a toolkit
the e350 has less than 500 miles... been driven less than 20 days
and been valet parked at one restaurant one time
my dad checked the trunk today and noticed that the toolkit is gone

so the most likely scenario is that the valet parking attendant at the restaurant stole the new toolkit

i wonder if there's a market for stolen mb toolkits...
what's even in it?

going to have some choice words with the restaurant owner tomorrow to put him on notice that his valet parking attendants may be up to no good

No, I have a brand new E550 Luxury model that has the mini spare. It comes with a Jack, lug wrench, alignment bolt, foldable wheel chock, towing eye, some gloves and a fuse allocation char.

The days of real tool kits are long gone. I've been buying Mercedes for about 25 years and each generation of Mercedes got fewer and fewer tools until they completely eliminated them. I have a 20 year old 300E which has tools such as screw driver, pliers, etc.

Check your manual, it will tell you what you should have gotten.

Same. When I bought my E550, I asked where the tool kit was and the sales guy pulled out the first aid kit. Disappointing.

The OP should verify with the dealer prior to accusing anyone of theft.

read my post over again
i am asking if people have a toolkit in the e350
i asked my dad multiple times if he is sure that he saw a toolkit in the trunk
he said he specifically checked the trunk and found a toolkit when he first brought the car home
so far the two people who have replied here have the e550
anyone with a 2011 e350 with a toolkit?

It could be your dad is mistaken. Get your facts together before accusing anyone of theft. My E350 Bluetec does not have a "toolkit". Ironically, even though I have no spare tire, I have the tire changing tools. Ask your dad specifically what the tool kit that he saw looked like and where it was located, color, etc. Having only driven the car for 20 days and only one valet experience, it does not sound like he is in the trunk very often. You have posted here before on behalf of your dad, so I am assuming he is not able to do this on his own.

Tell your Dad that there is what Mercedes calls a "toolkit" in the 2011 E350. But it only consists of the flat tire "tools" and nothing else. Ask him if that's what's missing.

He may have seen it and assumed it had tools in it, but perhaps when he checked again and found only the flat tire tools, he may have assumed that there was also a real tool kit (which he first incorrectly assumed was a full tool kit when he saw the flat tire kit), and it was now missing.

If he still has the flat tires tools, then nothing is missing.

Tool kits (in the true sense) are no longer provided like they used to be in German and Italian cars.

NO tools in tool kit

There are no tools. It is the jack, lug wrench, pair of gloves and towing bolt. That's it. Before I ordered, went through list of standard equipment with salesman and he said same thing.
They really should not call it a tool kit.
Who is go to do anything to car on side of road anyway? I'll call Roadside Assistance or my insurance company.

Did your car come with a manual? Open it up and turn to the section called Vehicle Tool Kit starting on page 316. This manual is for all three models of a 2011 E-Class Sedan.

The last toolkit I saw was in my dad's 1987 420SEL... also if the more expensive E550 doesn't have a toolkit, why would the less expensive E350 have it?

My buddy recently got a flat and said the included jack is worthless... Could have been user error, but he ended having another friend come by with another jack and help him.

Pretty sure most everyone read your first post correctly. My E350 does NOT have a toolkit other than whats needed to fix a flat.

But run with your dad's story and let me know when and where you are going to meet up with the valet. Ill bring the popcorn.

I used the jack that is provided with our W212s. It's not useless but close to it as it is one that you have to stick under the car and crank up. It is also quite small in size and seemingly unstable. Pretty difficult if you have a flat and an even lower car because of the lowering.

The W211 had a jack that you just inserted into the lower side of the car and cranked up which I thought was genius.

So after I told my dad that the forum members jumped down my throat about the tool kit, he backed down... Says maybe he got confused because his old car (lexus) had tools
And there is space/indentation in the e350 trunk for a tool kit

So I guess that's that
