Tires on a 2011 E550 4Matic??
My question is this, there seems to be a smattering of pirelli's/Conti tires being put on but no Michelins at all. I had Michelin Pilot tires on my last MB and think this is a better tire. The surveys at Tire Rack seem to think so too. The Conti tires come in 3rd. I'm would like the Michelin Pilot sport AS tires. I understand they are very good and better than the other two.
Your opinions please?

You're most likely to see Conti or Pirelli on a W/S212. Haven't seen anything different thus far.
I like the michelin ps a/s the best. The Conti's rear tire treadware is a deal breaker. The pirelli's winter performance is a concern.
Mine came with the Conti's. Good all around tire. Rubber did get hard in the middle of winter but well mannered on snow.
However, the rear Conti's have a treadwear of 200 and I went through them much quicker than the front which have a treadware of 400.
I now have Michelin PS A/S on the rear.
I don't notice any difference in the summer. It has a more aggressive thread pattern, if your into that thing.
I hit a pot hole on both the front and rear passanger tires. Both the Conti and the Michelin's got sidewall blisters. However, the Conti's blister was smaller making me think its sidewall is more robust.
Because of this I just replaced both front tires with the Pirelli pzero nero's. I would have gone with the michelin's all around but tire rack won't get the front tire size in until sept. And I replaced one of the rear michelin's.
Side by side the michelin's sidewall is slightly softer than the Pirelli's and the rubber seemed softer despite its higher treadware of 500 vs. 400 for the Pirelli's.
On the road I don't notice the difference between any of these tires / setups except less hydroplaning with the new tires.
Maybe if it were a sports car with road feel or pushed the car to the limits I could tell the difference.

I had one go out and replaced both front tires with different brand and do not need this tire any more. It has 9000 miles on it and I will give it away.
I live in southern Louisiana so a local drop off would work for me.
Anybody interested?

I have no use for this tire so I'll give it to someone who wants to have it as a spare if they lose a tire of this size like I did.
Reason I went with a different brand is my local garage did not have access to Pirellis in normal 1-2 day delivery and I did not have time to wait for a week and certainly did not want to drive with the donut for too long. It is just plain ugly spare with neon red colors and yellow warnings.
I had Firestone Firehawk Wide Oval tires put in front. Rear is still Pzeros but when I need new rear tires I will go with these same tires. They do not have 265/35-18 size but they do have 275/35-18, which at only 10 mm wider should fit?
The tires in front have been a big surprise for me. They feel a lot softer than the Pzero with better grip and a lot less noise.
They also said it is a 60 000 mile tread wear.
I recommend these but if Nokian had the rear tire size for me I would go with Nokian Z G2. There is no better summer tire for a normal use car. They have size for the front but I want to keep my staggered setup.
