close trunk with smart key?

I have the power trunk button, opens/closes the deck lid, but the smart key button only opens. It seems that every time I look, there is another feature that Merz decided we weren't worth. It looks like they want you to buy an S or you are not worthy. After all, what should you expect for a mere $65 grand or so?

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
I bought the car more for long term. Never had a car for over 4 years and with the economy the way it is and my being in real estate and having 2 young kids, trying to hold this one a little longer. Figured when/if I get out of warranty, didn't want to have to fork over the bigger bucks for costlier/option items like power trunk, dynamic seats, airmatic, and whatnot.

Drove a few 1st gen CLS's before I got my W212, and no question, I feel car-for-car, the W211 was a better car (better driving position, more functional, less flashy but more durable and lasting interior, much better visibility). The W212 is a whole different (upper) league in engineering and functionality over the 1st CLS (and not much different from the current CLS, in fact basically the same). As for Options and features, I don't wouldn't doubt that the CLS has it over the E in that aspect, and of course the fancier interior materials (that is, after all, what you're really paying for), which btw don't wear as well as the more blunt plastics in the E.

I guess it boils down to what options are important to you, from buttons to coeficient of drag.
.Iff anything, I'd say that if there's a car to be upset about, re: "Tech/Options", it would be the CLS. Identical to the E-Class, save for a few things like LED headlights, etc. (which are already starting to get incorporated across the board), same command, LCD Display, gadgets, but for a much higher price.
