DI engines
I know this is a 63 section but I wanted to share my opinions about MBs new DI engines. I recently drove a SLk350 and an E 350 coupe with this new engine and I was was not impressed. The cars felt a little quicker but the engines seemed unrefined. MB has always made engines (gas ones) that sound like high quality machines. The new DI engines sound really bad for the first 15-20 seconds of a cold start-like an old tech diesel. What is MB thinking? $55000 cars should sound good always with every twist of the key. I have purchased MBs for many years and what makes these cars special is the good noises they make and the bad noises that do not make - in a word-refinement. I would not buy one of these cars if they all sound like the two I tested. I hope MB reads this post because long time customers cannot be fooled. The proof is the product not the name on the product. I hope their N/A c 63 engine is not their last great engine. That would be a shame.
