Keyless Go
I heard that the keyless go is some type of button that does over the typical key ignition switch. I purchased the e350 with the P01 package, is it possible to get the as an add on at a later date? Typcially I would say know but after i heard it was just a button that goes over the ignition switch, i thought maybe it was possible?????

The button the OP speaks of is merely a slightly different ignition switch and the button merely covers the key slot.
i never used to be a fan of Keyless go until I had Comfort Access (the BMW version) It doesn't affect driving dynamics at all and is really a convenience item. The big item in the P2 package is the xenon headlighting system but the keyless go is certainly a nice to have - especially for female drivers that bury their keys in a purse.
It is completely impossible to start any keyless go car unless the key is inside the car. having the key in the vicinity of the car may allow unlocking but you cannot start the car without having the key inside. What did he do, toss it out the window after he started the car?
You also cannot readily lock the key in the car. The proximity sensor prevents that and if your idiot friends leaves the car running because he forgets to push the button, then it is just as likely that he forgets to turn the key off.

Sadly, I agree! LOL

I think he said he started the car and then walked back in the house, put the key on the counter...

His is a Lexus. It left me quite dumbfound as well.

Yep, I discovered this early on and laughed my head off!I too did not think KG was anything I'd ever have use for, but I got P2 for the Xenon.
Now, I would never be without KG again. I just didn't realize what a huge convenience it is to never have to fish for keys in your pocket (or the wife/g.f. in her bottomless purse) until I had it. Great idea!
And then there's the "Demo Value." You know, showing someone how it works, but forgetting to tell them it reads the key, telling them instead that the car "intelligently recognizes you - knows who you are!" OK, so I never grew up. Too late for that now.
Why the negative vibes????
I really like the Keyless Go, even though I did enjoy whipping out the nice "Benz Key" before as well. However, now that I do have Keyless, when I see a car with the "old fashioned" key slot with a key in it, I kind of think that it's a regressive step for me. I can get used to either, but I prefer Keyless.

A comment from a "Senior Member" like his is just awesome.....!!!!!
Keyless Go is just like the awesome Bi-Xenon lights - you don't know what you are missing before you actually have it.
