Taking out the Rear Headrest
If someone can shed some light on this for us. Our 2011 E350 does not have the rear split fold option and we bought a new car seat for our 16 month old and need to remove the rear headrest in order for the seat to sit flush without smashing the headrest. Problem is that since I can't fold the seat down, there is not enough headroom for me to pull the rear head rest completely out.
The center headrest being smaller has enough headroom for me to pull out but we prefer to place the seat at the side for easier access. Any advice would help. Thanks.

1) return the seat and get one that fits in your car
2) take it to your dealer service dept and plead with them for help...perhaps best done by the female spouse in tears with the child in hand. There is, of course, a risk of being charged for the help, but this risk can be reduced by more tears (I suggest practice).
I suggest option 1.....but option 2 might just work.

Trust me. Put both the child and car seat on ebay, maybe even together as a package. You will save a fortune in the long haul. Or, just get some help from your dealer. I am sure they run into this all of the time.

Statistically it is safest to put the child car seat in the middle of the back seat.
Not worth the risk to have your child car seat on the side just for the easier access. It's actually nice to have the child car seat in the middle as when you hop in the front, you can actually just turn around to help/adjust the child car seat latches when needed.
I have our child car seat in the middle and unless the passenger riding in the rear is a whale, there is enough room.
