Tire Recommendation for rain '09 E320

Hi, I have a 2009 E320 with 42,000 miles on it and the OEM Michelin MXV4 tires are awful in the rain, they were horrible in the rain half way through this tires tread life. Any recommendations on a good quiet tire that is good in the rain for my E320. I do not want a Michelin tire, this last set has big a real disappointment.

Thanks!

David

Michelin makes some of the best tires around. The MXV4 just isn't one of them. It is geared towards economy and tire life, not handling.

That said, read some reviews on Tirerack. That'll point you in the right direction. You'll probably want an performance all season tire as opposed to the "grand touring" Michelins you currently have.

I've had ContiProContacts on several previous cars and was very happy with them. A good balance of handling and treadlife.

No all season is very good in snow though.

If you want excellent wet traction, i.e. a summer tire that handles wet roads go see the link below. It does not get better than this.

I'm surprised to hear that, the MXV4 has always been an economical all-season tire for me - a good balance of everything at an economical price. That said most of the cars I've owned in the last 10 years didn't have a treadwear of over 200 and I live in California. If you live in wetter climates and don't really care about summer performance you should look for a wet weather tire. Tire Rack has a bunch of them for fairly cheap - believe it or not it's far easier to make a wet-weather tire than a performance tire.
