Help: Need name of dealers that upgraded Comand software!
Please help. I need the names of the US dealers that have upgraded the Comand software. I'm aware of Mercedes-Benz of Novi, Michigan. Please let me know some others. My dealer in Beverly Hills says that he doesn't know of any software upgrade and when I told him that others had had it done, he asked me for the names of other dealers. Thanks very much. You can email me at LBLAW50@yahoo.com.

You need to have a reason. It's really very tricky, and/or luck of the draw. I had an "update" done to mine, and it did nothing. Looks like there's an actual part number, and they need to determine something is wrong to change the Command Software.

Thats freaking ridicules, they have new software update and refuse to install it? What the hell are the thinking behind it? Other industries post updates on the websites and encourage customers to upgrade. Even my freaking TV and BD player call home and check for upgrades and then notify me about them being available. The process should be as simple as downloading the update on to a thumb drive or burning to a CD and a simple user friendly update procedure. It should not take a whole day at a dealer that makes it a great favor that he even does it.
I would ask to talk to the service manager and ask him a straight question, if he is not aware of the upgrade then how good of a dealer are they? Do they want to have your business to maintain your car or should you start going to a deferent dealer?

I might add, that yes maybe its a huge set of files and it would not be realistic for end user to download and do it them self. Also sounds like some dealers had trouble getting the update to complete for some strange reason. Still it does not cost the dealer to push the new update and I do not see why they would refuse if the customer asked for it. Don't they want to retain the business?
Did you told them any reason why you wanted it? Like maybe the bluetooth connectivity issues with dropped calls or something like it?

I've been told that M-B is VERY careful about giving out "Software Updates" for Command (from a Service Tech). The reasoning is simple, they want you to have a dated version, so you have more incentive to buy a new car. Sad but true.

Bruin, are you looking for the software to get Bluetooth Audio to work?
If so, I can give you the codes that your dealer will understand.

According to my dealer, updates are only done as warranty work if there is a problem with the system. Same as updates to Navigation. If you want them updated, you have to pay for them.

The software does not exist!
So, had my car in at dealer here in Los Angeles. It was in 2 weeks ago, and I did have an issue with the radio. So, asked to have the latest software put in. Mentioned the software revision from November of 2010. Car came back with notation that latest software installed. It was exactly the same as it had been. No change.
Had the car in this week for a brake issue (rear rotors had already been replaced and the brakes were still surging). Mentioned the software. Service rep. asked for names of dealers upgrading the software. I gave him that and this time, in writing, gave him the part number, and the information that had been provided on this board. Told him to look at the E's in the showroom.
Picked up the car today. Same old software. No different. I'm assured on my invoice that "latest software is installed". So, I guess that the software you guys have mentioned, and that some of you claim to have installed, and even have shown pictures of, must be dreaming because my dealer says mine is the latest. And by the way, it was not that if I was willing to pay, they'd upgrade. It was just that I have the latest. So sad.

Long story short, I bought a CPO 2008 E350 from Beverly Hills MB about a year ago and the car overheated a month into ownership. Took it to DTLAMB and they blamed it on rodent damage and stuck me with the bill. Overheated about 4 more times after that and each time DTLAMB blamed it on rodent damage and stuck me with the bill. Got a lemon law lawyer and MB bought my car back minus all of the bills I paid DTLAMB for their service.
Was out about $2k on the service and another 2k on undoing a buncha mods on my car to return back to stock before buy-back.

Star Motor Cars, Houston, asked service manager today if there was an update available to fix the bluetooth audio bug, he said, I had the latest software. Bluetooth audio works on mine, but I have to (re-) pair it every time I start the car.

Went and had Service A done today at Star Motors. Said BT audio didn't work and they installed new software that now shows AC controls on main screen and now I have bluetooth audio (no big deal). Any other changes with new software other than being able to see when you make changes to AC on the screen and bluetooth audio???

Go to the navigation screen....use voice and say "zip code"....that's a new command (I think) in comand 4.5. However, I don't know if they can upgrade a comand 4.0 system to a comand 4.5 system and what would work and what wouldn't.
