Wow, you have had the worst luck with that car. Just a few months old and it's seemingly more aesthetically beat down than highly Used cars.

Were you able to get a phone number or something from that truck? There's gotta be a way to hold somebody liable if it's severe enough to the point where a Truck let's out a ton of debris.

All I know is that the rocks made me flinch because the first stone that hit the windshield was so loud it was scary. The truck was two lanes over, so I couldn't see any phone numbers on the side or anything I didn't want to go any closer at the time! I can't hold anyone else responsible for me because I couldn't avoid the stones no matter how hard I tried. The bumper endured a beating for at least 30 seconds.

Hyperion, I probably just have really bad luck.

If the paint is just pitted, a.k.a there are only a zillion dents, not any actual paint chips, would they look better with Dr. Colorchip?

Honestly, there is little you can do for those. Those are impressions and not chips in the paint and really the only thing that can be done is to take it to a body shop and have them look at it. They may be able to wet sand the clear coat down a little and repolish the paint to look better. If not then a repaint is in order and I would put the protective clear vinyl over it to save you the next time.

Might suggest you contact California Highway Dept as it was probably one of their trucks or someone they contracted to do the roadwork. If they decline to help talk to your insurance company or your atty for suggestions on how to get satisfaction for this unfortunate event.

Why didn't you just back off? I wouldn't have endured that for more than a few seconds - as long as it took me to put distance between that truck and me.

Paint chip paint won't help if you have hundreds of chips and dings.

Dr. Colorchip definitely will help. It won't make it perfect but it'll hide the white chips and blend in the color. My car looked like it had dandruff before but after I used it, it looked fine from a foot away. Try it out.

I agree with RNBRAD the only way to make your car look like new is to take it to a quality bodyshop and have it repainted. They will strip all the paint off and do a complete repaint. You would drive yourself crazy with Dr. Colorchip and if the chips aren't deep enough Dr. Colorchip won't bond and when you try to smooth it you will pull the paint out of the chip. Your insurance should cover the repair depending on your deductable.

Yep this crap happens all the time especially where I live. During the winter months, they put out tons of gravel on the road. These provide traction for vehicles but cause severe damage to your car's exterior. I got my E550 in silver because it is much easier to clean and hides scratches/dents better than a black car.

The colorchip product can't compete with a repaint and clear coat but for those going for improvement but not perfection, it fits the bill.

file your insurance claim

and get the repair done by a shop. The claim will be under comprehensive (and whatever deductible you have under comprehensive) and there will be no penalty for your future permium (at least for State Farm). Similar thing happen to me that a box dropped from the truck in front of me and it hit my bumper create a big dent.. It was repair by a shop and I think they took care of the deductible as well (wifey handled that part)...
